SOUTH DAKOTA- Today we will cover the top five DB’s in the State of South Dakota that are poised to make a lot of noise in their Senior campaigns. A few of these kids already have sparked some interest from college coaches, the others have the skill-set to be on the college radar soon.
#5- [player_tooltip player_id="56537" first="Noah" last="Thompson"]- Brandon Valley- perhaps our most underrated DB on the list. He is more than likely going to make the biggest stock raise in his Senior Season. He plays extremely physical in both pass coverage and in run support. He is good at jamming receivers at the line and then trailing them in coverage making plays on the ball. He is also good at shaking off blocks and holding his contain on the perimeter. His hand technique and tackling ability makes him seem like he could play LB.

#4- [player_tooltip player_id="56491" first="Landon" last="Ruesink"]- Dell Rapids- one of the more versatile DB’s, lots of speed mixed with physicality to be good in coverage and run-support. Against the run-heavy teams, he really showed up big in run-support, whether that be making tackles for loss on perimeter runs, or taking out blockers to plug up gaps. In pass coverage, he was fast enough to run with anyone, but also reads the QB well enough to find which receiver is getting the ball in the route combo, and always closes well on the ball.

#3- [player_tooltip player_id="56464" first="Hayden" last="Gilbert"]- Viborg-Hurley- played like a man amongst boys with his size and speed. In zone coverages, he was a ballhawk floating and jumping routes to pick off or break up many passes. He took great angles to put himself in position to make tackles and he was very strong, over-powering every ballcarrier he made contact with.

#2- [player_tooltip player_id="93075" first="Kaden" last="Keiser"]- Winner- made a close case for top DB in the State of South Dakota. His versatility at many positions on the defensive side gave him the contention for top spot, but ultimately, the size difference between him and #1 was the deciding factor. Though Keiser may be undersized in some scouts eyes, he use his wrestling background to his advantage when making tackles, blocks or shedding blocks. He also has a great deal of speed for pass coverage and filling in run-support and always makes the sure tackle.

#1- [player_tooltip player_id="56321" first="Gage" last="Tennyson"]- Custer- kid is just a field general at Safety. Sits in centerfield and gets his reads, and makes the best play possible. Reads routes and the QB good enough to put himself in the best position to pick off a pass. On run reads, he fills the alley real quick to stop the run game. He breaks down and makes good form tackles, while also delivering a hit.
