Sioux Valley was near the top this year in 11B, only losses on the year came to the eventual State Champions and Runners-up. Watching their film, they ran a lot of different offensive sets, from spread to a double wing double tight set, but the main point they made was they could strike a big play at any time in the run or pass game. They enjoyed the motion, misdirection-type scheme to hit big passes down the field, or the short pass to the perimeter game. Defensively, they looked to be in a 5-2 set, their line really got the job done up front plugging gaps and slowing down big power run teams. Their LB's flowed and tackled well, read the offensive line well and usually ended up in the right position. The DB's stuck tight to the WR's but were also huge on run support, if they were needed there. They also received the contender pick due to the size and speed of the returners they have and that they will return in the key positions.
Players Lost: RB/LB [player_tooltip player_id="56340" first="Jaxton" last="Schiller"] (SD School of Mines), OL/DL Kashas Vander Wal (Black Hills State), RB [player_tooltip player_id="56401" first="Raven" last="Olson"], DL [player_tooltip player_id="56422" first="Connor" last="Logan"], WR [player_tooltip player_id="56395" first="Ashton" last="Bultje"], DL Avery Mangan
Players Returning:
QB- [player_tooltip player_id="56470" first="Parker" last="Puetz"] has great footwork and pocket presence as a QB. Stays mobile and keeps his eyes downfield and makes a good, strong throw. He is also very patient, letting his receivers get downfield and does not rush his throws, even under pressure.
RB/LB- [player_tooltip player_id="56524" first="McKade" last="Rentsch"] is a very shifty back, but also brings some power and speed to the game as well. He is patient, waiting for his blocks to develop then sticks his foot in the ground and gets upfield in a hurry. He is a very dangerous back on the perimeter and in open space.
LB/DB- [player_tooltip player_id="56539" first="Carson" last="Christopherson"] is one of the more technically sound players you will see on defense. He does his job, whether that will be in run support or pass coverage. He gets his read and fills his gap to make a tackle, nothing big or flashy, just extremely effective.
WR- Damian Danziesen is a straight vertical threat, three steps on his fade route and he is past his defender. After making the catch, he works hard to build up his yards after catch, does not g down easily.
