Continue ReadingI have heard it said that OL are the backbone of any offensive scheme and I agree. Without these young men blocking not even the best RB can excel on Friday Nights. QBs cannot sit comfortably in the pocket with DL or blitzing LBs in his face consistently. Being a OL is an honor and a privilege in my book. They may not always get the recognition they deserve openly but it is known quickly by the great statistics put up by the ball carriers or QBs. Without a great OL a team cannot win consistently. If a person is to look at championship teams from the past, they would see one common denominator, a great group of OL. This will be a three-part series about Junior and Senior OL from Arkansas who I believe will be huge factors in their teams success in 2021 and beyond.
Fletcher Stivers- OL 2022 Carlisle Bisons
Fletcher plays guard typically for the Bisons. Fletcher stands at 5’6 and weighs in at 180 pounds. Out of the Wing-T offense Fletcher really excels. He plays with an aggressiveness that makes beating him at the line of scrimmage difficult. Fletcher has quick feet and plays low. He drives his feet to the whistle, and he also has great field awareness. Fletcher is dangerous when pulling and loves to hit. He can be lower than his blocking assignment on every play because of his get-off. Fletcher also does well in pass pro when needed. Colleges should have Fletcher on their lists and go see him play this Fall.
Jacob Roach- OL 2022 Des Arc Eagles
Jacob stands at 5’10 and weighs in at 215 pounds. Jacob plays guard usually for the Eagles and plays the position well. Jacob plays the OL spot with reckless abandonment and is extremely aggressive. On film Jacob pancakes most who challenge him, and he blocks to the whistle. At the snap, Jacob has great get-off and his feet drive forward never stopping. Jacob is strong and that helps him excel even farther at his position. He is an excellent puller and plays well in pass pro. Colleges should be watching Jacob this fall because he is an asset that will only get better.
Caedmon Majors- OL 2022 Southside Southerners
Caedmon is a versatile OL that can play in multiple spots for the Southerners. He stands at 6’2 and weighs in at 300 pounds. He runs a 5.6/40. On film he uses his quick feet and excellent strength to manhandle his blocking assignments. Caedmon has excellent get off and blocks aggressively to the whistle. He is a great down blocker, pulls well, has great awareness, and uses his hands well. Caedmon is also good in pass pro. Caedmon has excellent get-off and on film I seen several pancake blocks. Colleges everywhere should have Caedmon on their list and be making plans to watch him this Fall.
Jacob Breezeel- OL 2022 Harding Academy Wildcats
Another OL who fits the bill in multiple categories, Jacob is the ultimate package for any college looking for OL. The first thing that jumped out at me on fil was Jacob plays with fury and Is one of the most physical OL I have seen. Jacob stands at 6’6 and weighs in at 275 pounds. There is not much Jacob cannot do. He blocks well in pass pro. He has excellent get-off, uses his hands well, drives his feet well, has impressive strength, and has excellent field awareness. Jacob puts DL and blitzing LBs on sleds backwards. If colleges are not already watching Jacob they need to be because he is one of those that will excel big past high school.
Greyson Jones- OL 2022 Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs
Greyson stands at 6’2 and weighs in at 237 pounds. Greyson has a big opportunity to start as a Senior and has big potential. Watching and learning from some excellent OL older than him the last two seasons, Greyson can anchor the Mustang OL this Fall. Greyson has great coaching and has a lot of potential. Greyson runs a 5.5/40 and on film I could see those instances of quickness and aggressiveness all the way back to his freshman year for the Junior Mustangs. I believe in him and I think the best in Greyson will show this Fall. Colleges need to put Greyson on their lists.
