Usually the ones that do end up breaking state records and going off to a big time program after their senior season. Last year in Alabama, there were some freshmen quarterbacks that threw for BIG numbers. Let’s take a look at 4 of the best young gunslingers in state.
Caleb McCreary Caleb McCreary 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Montgomery Catholic School | 2024 State AL | Montgomery Catholic
Caleb McCreary Caleb McCreary 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Montgomery Catholic School | 2024 State AL set the state on fire as a freshman last season. Throwing for over 3000 yards and 36 touchdowns, McCreary looks like a future Power 5 prospect already. After his first season, he added his first offer from the Arkansas State Red Wolves. They will be the first of many. McCreary is a poised lefty who thrives in the vertical passing game. He executes well off of play action and has a cannon for an arm. McCreary has advanced mechanics for his age and looks like a polished passer already. In addition, he’s a heckuva athlete who can make plays in the ground game. He runs well in space and can make people miss. Superstar potential here. Watch him rewrite the record books over the next 3 years.

Brandon Musch Brandon Musch 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Westminister Christian | 2024 State AL is a create a player video game type. As a freshman, he threw for 2,600 yards and 29 touchdowns, while rushing for 1030 yards and 11 touchdowns. This guy is exciting to watch. At 5’10″ 160, he isn’t the biggest yet, but has plenty of time to grow and develop. As a runner and athlete, he has borderline elite speed in the open field. He can bounce off of contact and make people miss to score long touchdowns. In the pocket, Musch is extremely mobile and can avoid the rush with ease. Often, he extends plays with his legs to find a receiver downfield. As a passer, Musch is accurate with a big arm and quick release. A complete gamer like this will have no shortage of college opportunities.

In 7 games last season, freshman starter Jim Ogle Jim Ogle 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Jacksonville | 2024 State AL threw for 1,237 yards and 7 TDs. While he didn’t get a full season to showcase his talents, the limited tape showed a player with a ton of upside. At 6’4″ 175, Ogle has the frame to grow into a big time passer. Ogle is a pro style player who plays incredibly well in the pocket. He can hang in while the rush is coming and deliver accurate strikes downfield. Ogle has the arm strength to make college level throws like outs from the opposite hash too. His release is solid for his age and he can make quick decisions with pressure in his face. Ogle shows promise to be a true field general in the future. Will be exciting to watch him in a full regular season this year.
KJ Jackson KJ Jackson 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Saint James School | 2024 State AL | Saint James
Already 6’3″ 200, KJ Jackson KJ Jackson 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Saint James School | 2024 State AL has college QB size as a freshman. He threw for 1300 yards and 21 touchdowns in his first season starting. Jackson is a pro style pocket passer with a big arm. Playing in a run heavy offense, he takes shots deep of play action consistently well. The ball comes out of Jackson’s hand quickly with a ton of zip on it. He throws with good touch and accuracy on the deep ball which is impressive given his age and experience. In the pocket, Jackson moves well with quick and active feet. He is also capable of throwing on the run and extending plays with his legs. With his skill set and size, Jackson looks like a future national recruit out of Alabama. He already lists offers from Akron and Lousiana Lafayette. Will be one of the top pro style quarterbacks of his class.
