.West Linn (3-0) The Lions are loaded on the perimeter and they have a line. If we actually had playoffs, I don’t think anyone would challenge them this season. From the youth on up it’s an incredibly impressive group.
.Central Catholic (3-0) I give the Rams and the coaching staff a lot of credit after graduating one of the deepest teams in state history. WR [player_tooltip player_id="28839" first="Jordan" last="King"] has been one of the most impressive players state wide. The 21-7 win over Barlow wasn’t super impressive but it’s a win
.Sunset (3-0) Potentially the best D in the state. The Apollos gave up their first TD of the year in mop up time in their 49-10 win over Westview. Junior [player_tooltip player_id="108144" first="Caleb" last="Kim"] continues to kill it scoring another 5 TDs. Sunset was ranked #7 initially to start the year.
.Mountainside (2-1) The Mavericks rebounded nicely with a 58-2 pasting of Southridge, after the very surprising shutout loss to Sunset the week prior. [player_tooltip player_id="28723" first="Andrew" last="Simpson"] is one of the top players in Oregon as I would still consider them a 6A contender if there were playoffs.
.Tualatin (2-1) The T-Wolves had a 4th quarter for the ages, down 27-7, and winning 42-33 against Lakeridge. They are loaded with D1 kids on the perimeter, with the likes of [player_tooltip player_id="28846" first="Cole" last="Prusia"] and [player_tooltip player_id="28854" first="Jackson" last="Jones"] both on fire. The problem comes with not having any size up front if we are talking about winning a state title.
.Newberg (3-0) This is probably the best NHS team in school history. Give Coach Hastin a lot of credit as many of his top guys are still young. The win over Sherwood to start the year speaks volumes, especially after what the Bowmen did to Jesuit last night.
.Sherwood (2-1) Going to Jesuit and blasting the Crusaders 27-7 should be considered one of the biggest wins in school history. With the reigning conference player of the year [player_tooltip player_id="28712" first="Bryan" last="Cuthbertson"] going down, it will be interesting to see how they bounce back.
.Lake Oswego (1-0) Much like CC, Lake O graduated an unreal class, led by Stanford RB and 6A POY Casey Filkins. [player_tooltip player_id="28882" first="Gabe" last="Olvera"] wasted no time in making his own statement, rushing for over 200 yards and 3 TDs in the 42-20 win over a decent Oregon City team.
.Tigard (1-1) The Tigers played respectable football against Oregon’s clear cut #1 team. [player_tooltip player_id="28814" first="Hewitt" last="Sullivan"] has been a breakout performer on the offensive side of the ball, after earning all-conference accolades on D a year ago. WR [player_tooltip player_id="28836" first="Keenan" last="Speer-Johnson"] is on a whole different level and they need to figure out a way to get him the ball consistently.
.West Salem (3-0) The Titans are now (3-0) with multiple shutouts on the year already. Shawn Stanley is one of Oregon’s all-time great coaches, and once again if there were playoffs, the Titans would have a shot.
.Lakeridge (1-2) The future is extremely bright for the Pacers. The 42-33 loss to Tualatin after being up 20 in the 4th quarter is tough no matter how you look at it. That said as Sophomore QB [player_tooltip player_id="110242" first="Ryan" last="Oliver"] is legit, and they have countless other D1 type kids on both sides of the football.
.Jesuit (1-2) The 20-point loss to Sherwood at home is almost unheard of. It’s been an up and down first few weeks, with a nice win against Clackamas, after getting blasted by CC to start the year. The Crusaders should be fine as they have a talented Junior class.
.Clackamas (2-1) The Cavs get knocked in the polls through no fault of their own. With Jesuit getting smacked at home by Sherwood, the close loss to JHS the week prior hurts. Overall the Cavs have one of the most talented rosters in the state.
.Sheldon (1-0) It’s not the Irish teams from years past, but they are young with a ton of potential. Sophomore QB [player_tooltip player_id="110187" first="Brock" last="Thomas"] totaled 6 TDs (3 passing/3 rushing) in the teams 48-32 win over Willamette. Year in and year out Sheldon produces top talent so expect them to be in the mix.
.North Medford (2-1) Down 18-0 the Black Tornado showed some fight in their comeback win against #5 (5A) Crater 25-18. North is one of the more intriguing teams in Oregon with impressive young dudes coming up as well.
