These athletes have had an extended offseason because of covid and look to show how they’ve developed during that time. They have been putting in the work with this extended offseason and are going to showcase their improvements come March 19th. Here are ten DL names to know heading into the spring season.
Derrick Parker II Derrick Parker II 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Rich Township | 2022 State IL II 6’3 245 Rich Township HS Twitter Highlights
Starting off we’re taking a look at Mr. Parker from Rich Township HS. He has the ability to blow up plays in the backfield by shedding the block to make the tackle. He sets the edge forcing the play inside and has a high motor which he uses to attack. Overall, Parker is a dominant player, and once he gets his junior film showcasing his development he’ll gain more traction in recruiting.
Will DeBold 6’1 205 Minooka HS Twitter Highlights
Next up is Mr. DeBold from Minooka HS. He blows up plays by getting in the backfield quickly and getting pressure on the QB. He gets off of his blocks to make the play and is aggressive at the point of attack. Overall, DeBold looks to showcase how he’s developed this spring and get his name out there as well.
Jayden Griffin 6’3 231 St. Patrick HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Griffin is from St. Patrick HS. He gets in the backfield quickly by shooting the gaps and gets off of blocks to make the tackle. He takes pursuit angles to make the tackle downfield by not giving up on the play, and his effort is shown on film. Overall, Griffin has been putting work in this offseason and looks to showcase what he can do come March 19th.
Philip Dozier 6’0 205 Glenbard West HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Dozier is from Glenbard West HS. He takes on the double team by penetrating the backfield and gets pressure on the QB. He is dominant at the points of attack, holds QB contain forcing the play inside, and his effort shows on film. Overall, expect Dozier’s recruitment to gain traction after this spring season is complete.
Christian Lorenzo Christian Lorenzo 6'5" | 285 lbs | DL Dekalb | 2022 State IL 6’4 290 Dekalb HS Twitter
Mr. Lorenzo is from Dekalb HS. He fills gaps in run support, gets in the backfield, and gets off of blocks to make the tackle. He has the strength to push the offensive line around and doesn’t give up on plays by taking pursuit angles. Overall, Lorenzo has been putting in the work this offseason and looks to showcase his development.
Terryonte Clerk 6’0 220 Bloom Township HS Highlights
Mr. Clerk is from Bloom Township HS. He gets pressure on the QB, gets hands up deflecting passes, and plays hard. His biggest hurdle is getting his name out there and once he gets his junior season film I expect this to change. Overall, he’s an under-the-radar type of player and he looks to showcase his talents on March 19th.
Tyler Hendricker Tyler Hendricker 6'4" | 230 lbs | DL Peotone | 2022 State IL 6’4 230 Peotone HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Hendricker gets in the backfield quickly with a swim move getting pressure on the QB, gets hands up deflecting passes, and fills the gaps in run support. He doesn’t give up on plays by taking pursuit angles to make the tackle downfield and is quick off the line of scrimmage which goes hand in hand with his aggressive playstyle. Overall, once he gets his junior film look for more offers to come his way.
Cody Silzer 6’3 230 Lockport Township HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Silzer sets the edge on defense, gets pressure on the QB, and gets hands up deflecting passes. He has been going to showcases left and right developing himself during the extended offseason. He and his brother Cole have been working on their craft and are going to be a sight to see when the season starts on March 19th. Overall, look for Silzer to capitalize upon last season’s performance.
Cole Silzer 6’3 230 Lockport Township HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Silzer has a good jump off the line of scrimmage, is able to get into the backfield quickly with his use of hands, and has speed off the edge. Like his brother Cody, he has been going to showcases left and right developing himself during the extended offseason. Overall, once the pads come on look for Silzer to showcase what he can do and build upon last season’s performance.
Grayson Dexter Grayson Dexter 6'4" | 245 lbs | OL Bradley-Bourbonnais | 2022 State IL 6’5 220 Bradley Bourbonnais HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Dexter is from Bradley Bourbonnais HS. He is quick off the line of scrimmage where he gets pressure on the QB and fills gaps in run support. He takes pursuit angles making the play downfield showcasing his effort on film. Dexter has been gaining traction in recruiting over the past month, look for this to continue once he gets his junior film in.
These DL are in similar boats needing their junior year film before their recruiting takes off. Each of these players has the potential to play at the next level, the only thing that’s missing is the updated film from the spring season that’s starting March 19th.
