But we also know that offers beget offers.
Spring Valley is one of those programs in South Carolina that we expect to have a heightened sense of that reaction over the course of the next three seasons. The Vikings are loaded with college-caliber players, some with more time to prove themselves than others. No, they’re not all future mega-names. But they’re all going to get some looks.
“We have a really good group of seniors coming back, especially [along] our offensive line, linebackers and receivers,” Vikings coach Robin Bacon said. “We have a really talented quarterback who has several D1 offers.”
Bacon’s top player, DeQuandre Smith DeQuandre Smith 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Spring Valley | 2022 State SC , is leading the charge. The quarterback is already sitting at No. 19 in our Class of 2022 rankings and has some Power 5 offers in the mix, including one from the hometown South Carolina Gamecocks.
He’s joined by a stealthy-yet-considerable rising senior class that should gain some attention in the months ahead. Offensive linemen Nick Peeples (6-foot-5, 255 pounds) and Jiawan Sanders (6-foot-3, 290 pounds), defensive linemen Ky Tayo (6-foot-2, 255 pounds), Ty’Shaun Glover (6-foot-4, 265 pounds) and Mondell Hutto (6-foot-3, 190 pounds), linebacker David Squires (6-foot, 225 pounds) and receiver/defensive back DJ Williams (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) are all likely headed for various landing spots in the college football ranks.
They’ll likely draw off the attention Smith has gotten, and it’s only going to continue paying future dividends.
The Vikings’ Class of 2023 includes a couple of jumpstarts in tailback Evan Javis and defensive back Jordan Chestnut, as well as a few more we’re still looking at next season.
Stay tuned.
