Continue ReadingThe peach-state is always one of the best at producing high-level wideouts including some recent Super Bowl winners in Mecole Hardman and Tyreek Hill. With offenses across the state throwing the ball more and more, we’re seeing more wideouts start to take off and become some of the nation’s best. The state is led this year by 5-star athlete Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , who led the state in receiving, but he’s not the only playmaker in North Georgia.
Here are a few 2022 receivers who are bound for breakout seasons this fall.
DJ Moore – Archer
He may have a few offers already, but the speedy playmaker from Gwinnett County is still one of the more under-rated players in the state. Moore has excellent speed and has a knack for getting behind the defense. He has decent size at 6-foot-1 185-pounds with the ability to make the “spectacular catch”. He has tremendous ball skills and is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He can create separation, but his best quality to make big plays down the field. Earlier this month and the Atlanta Under Armour camp, Moore ran a 4.51 in the 40-yard dash, a 4.26 in the short shuttle, and had a 33-inch vertical. Moore holds some quality offers from Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Ari Force, but could see more coming his way shortly. He’s one of the more explosive players in the state and is expected to have a monster senior season, even against some of the state’s top defenses.
Savion Riley – Kell
One of the top playmakers in Cobb County, Riley is having an outstanding run in the 7-on-7 circuit due to his size and above average speed. Like Moore, Riley does a great job of catching the ball down the field in 1-on-1 situations. He changes directions on a dime and has a big frame at 6-foot-2 200-pounds. He has good speed but is big and strong enough to break tackles from smaller defensive backs. He has the vision of a running back and is excellent in the screen game. He snatches the ball well out of the air and has great burst to get upfield. He high-points the football well and can make a tough grab even when a defender is in great coverage. Riley is one of the most underrated prospects in the state, but that could be changing real soon.

Mason Capers – South Forsyth
If you’re looking for a breakout weapon in North Georgia, Capers could be your guy. The War Eagles had tight end Devin McGlockton last year, but he’s now moved on and will play basketball for Boston College. Now it’s Capers turn to take over the tight end role, but he can also flex out wide and play some receiver. He’s a big-bodied pass catcher at 6-foot-4 215-pounds who runs great routes for his size. The War Eagles are looking for more playmakers this fall, and Capers will have plenty of opportunities to make plays in the passing game for new quarterback Ty Watkins Ty Watkins 6'3" | 220 lbs | QB South Forsyth | 2023 State GA . Capers has reliable hands, and in South Forsyth’s pass-happy offense, Capers is bound for a breakout season as a senior.
