These athletes have had an extended offseason because of covid and look to show how they’ve developed during that time. They have been putting in the work with this extended offseason and are going to showcase their improvements come March 19th. Here are six DBs names to know heading into the spring season.
Khary Shaw Khary Shaw 6'2" | 205 lbs | ATH Brother Rice | 2022 State IL 6’2 205 Brother Rice HS Twitter Highlights
Starting off we’re taking a look at Mr. Shaw from Brother Rice HS. He gets hands-on when pressing which comes in handy when he re-routes the receiver, stays with his man in coverage and has quick acceleration. He’s gained traction over this extended offseason and has competed in multiple camps to showcase his development. Overall, once Shaw gets his junior season film expect his recruiting stock to rise further and offers to come soon after.
Justin Harris 6’0 185 Lincoln-Way West HS Twitter Highlights
Next up is Mr. Harris from Lincoln-Way West HS. He has quick acceleration to stay with the receiver on a go route, isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder, and plays through the receiver. Overall, once Harris gets his junior season film in offers will start to pile up for this young man.
Damahz Slater 6’0 155 United Township HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Slater is from United Township HS. He stays with his man in coverage, attacks downhill making the open field tackle, and has the speed to cover sideline to sideline. He isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder, diagnoses the plays quickly, and deflects passes in coverage. Overall, this spring season will be a big one for Slater’s recruiting.
Jovan Jones Jr 6’1 170 Rich Township HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Jones is from Rich Township HS. He stays with his man in coverage, covers sideline to sideline without losing the step advantage, and attacks downhill. He makes open-field tackles with his closing speed, fills holes in run support, and gets in the backfield to make the play. Overall, all Jones is missing is his junior season film and once he gets this I expect offers to come his way.
Sean Kinard 6’0 150 Brother Rice HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Kinard is from Brother Rice HS. He attacks downhill in run support, isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder to deliver a big hit, and plays aggressively. Once he diagnoses the play he flies to the ballcarrier to make the tackle. Overall, Kinard is flying under the radar and once he gets his junior season film this will change.
Jack Molloy 6’0 170 St. Ignatius HS Twitter Highlights
Mr. Molloy is from St. Ignatius HS. He makes open-field tackles with his closing speed, attacks downhill, and is aggressive in his play. His speed paired with quick acceleration helps him defend the go route and he takes pursuit angles to make the tackle downfield. Overall, Molloy looks to showcase how he’s developed since last season and improve his recruiting stock.
These DBs are in similar boats needing their junior year film before their recruiting takes off. Each of these players has the potential to play at the next level, the only thing that’s missing is the updated film from the spring season that’s starting March 19th.
