Despite the NCAA extending the dead period, recruiting is starting to really pick up across the state of Oklahoma as National Signing Day is in our rear view mirror and the focus has now shifted to the 2022 and 2023 class. In the last week, 11 2022 prospects picked up offers from the next level. We also saw 2 2023 prospects earn offers as well. Every Monday, we’ll update you on all of the recruiting news from across the state. From offers to commitments and everything in between, we’ll have you covered. As always, you can follow us on Twitter to stay up to date from the moment an offer or commitment happens. @PrepRedzoneOK
THIS WEEK’S OFFERS
Two Prospects Have Four Offer Weeks
For Broken Arrow 2022 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="61133" first="Robert" last="Spears-Jennings"] and Putnam City North 2022 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="101400" first="Jaleel" last="Johnson"], last week was pretty special. They were both on social media consistently putting out their latest offers as both players earned four offers in the last week. For Jennings, he picked up offers from Arkansas State, Colorado, Kansas and SMU. For Johnson, his offers came from Arkansas State, North Texas, SMU and Tulane.
Both players had breakout seasons in 2020 and both have become two of the more sought after prospects in the 2022 class. Jennings became one of the top home run hitters at the wide receiver position while Johnson emerged as a pass rushing stud. In the last week, Oklahoma prospects earned a total of 23 offers and 8 of those offers were to Jennings and Johnson alone. Not a bad week to kick off March.
Two 2023 Receivers Pick Up Offers
Bixby’s [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] and Booker T Washington’s [player_tooltip player_id="47959" first="Micah" last="Tease"] have a few things in common. They’re both not only top receiver prospects but top overall prospects in this 2023 class. They’re also 7v7 teammates on Sooner7. And last week, they each picked up offers. For Tease, it was his first offer from the next level. For Hasz, it added another school to his growing list of college programs. Tease was offered by Pittsburgh and Hasz was offered by Central Florida and their new coaching staff. Hasz’s stock continues to rise with no end in sight. With Tease picking up his first offer, this should really kickstart the process and the Hornet standout should start hearing from more schools.
Two 2022 Defenders Earn Three Offers Each
Jennings and Johnson weren’t the only prospects to have busy weeks. Holland Hall 2022 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="61125" first="NuNu" last="Campbell"] and Owasso 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="38674" first="Chris" last="McClellan"] each picked up three offers. Campbell picked up offers from Ball State, Utah State and Washington State. Meanwhile, the Owasso big man received offers from Florida, Illinois and Washington State. Campbell has blown up in the last two months and rightfully so after a big 2020 season. McClellan’s recruitment is continuing to be on fire following his big junior season with well over ten sacks.
Big Blue Comes After Brown
Michigan doesn’t recruit Oklahoma very often but when they do, they’re going after elite talent in the state. Last week, Big Blue extended an offer for one of the state’s top pass rushers in Choctaw 2022 defensive end [player_tooltip player_id="61127" first="Desean" last="Brown"]. The Choctaw big man was primed for a breakout season in 2020 and he lived up to the hype. He became a first team All State selection and was a sack machine with 15 sacks during his junior season. Brown is without a doubt one of the top defensive prospects in this 2022 class and Michigan coming after the elite pass rusher should be a surprise to nobody.
Ivy Leagues In Oklahoma Again
Ivy League schools Penn and Harvard have been recruiting in Oklahoma this offseason and they extended two more offers in the last week. Penn offered Jenks 2022 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38697" first="AJ" last="Brown"] while Harvard offered Yukon 2022 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="61128" first="Lane" last="Parks"]. For both prospects, this isn’t their first offers from the Ivy League. Dartmouth has also offered Brown and Parks. Both linemen have their stocks going up right now as we get closer to the spring.

OTHER NEWS
[player_tooltip player_id="38668" first="Gentry" last="Williams"] Announces Top Six
Arguably the best overall athlete and one of the best overall prospects in the 2022 class is nearing a decision. Last week, Booker T Washington’s [player_tooltip player_id="38668" first="Gentry" last="Williams"] announced his top five schools moving forward during his recruitment. Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma and USC all made the list as it was without a doubt very SEC heavy. There are certainly some connections for Williams with two of the SEC schools. Arkansas just signed Williams’ teammate [player_tooltip player_id="38494" first="Keuan" last="Parker"] in the 2021 class. Another former Hornet JJ Hester signed with Missouri in the 2020 class.
Williams is part of a big three in the 2022 class, the others include Deer Creek offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38666" first="Jacob" last="Sexton"] and Edmond Santa Fe wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"]. For over a year now, these three prospects have been hands down at the top of the 2022 rankings and it’s really 1A, 1B and 1C as you can make a valid argument for all three to be the top overall prospect in this class. Sexton announced his top schools earlier this year and Shettron has been committed to OU since October of last year. Williams missed nearly all of his junior season with a torn ACL. He recently got cleared to begin running again and expects to be back to 100% early on in the summer.
