It’s always a breath of fresh air when two local football titans clash head to head. That is exactly what we have in store tonight with DeMatha vs. St. John’s, and there couldn’t be more of an abundance of talent on the field. This article serves as an inside look.
2023 6’1 190 QB [player_tooltip player_id="90641" first="Cameron" last="Edge"] – DeMatha
There are few high school quarterbacks out there who throw a nicer ball than [player_tooltip player_id="90641" first="Cameron" last="Edge"]. The uncommitted Sophomore has power five conference offers out the wazoo and they won’t be stopping anytime soon. The St. John’s offense will have to score at least 20 points in order to have a chance against the high powered Stags’ offense with Edge under center. There isn’t any shred of doubt that [player_tooltip player_id="90641" first="Cameron" last="Edge"] will have a big day today.
2023 6’6 255 DL [player_tooltip player_id="90642" first="Jason" last="Moore"] – DeMatha
[player_tooltip player_id="90642" first="Jason" last="Moore"] is one of the best defensive players in Maryland, for his class, and his play will absolutely impact the outcome of this game in a big way. If he can put the pressure that he usually does on the St. John’s offensive line then it could be a long day for the Cadet offense. This is a big time game for [player_tooltip player_id="90642" first="Jason" last="Moore"] to showcase his talents and there’s no better platform to do so than against a longtime rival.
2022 6’4 230 DL [player_tooltip player_id="90511" first="Isaiah" last="Smith"] – St. John’s
Another elite payer on the field tonight with a plethora of power five conference offers is [player_tooltip player_id="90511" first="Isaiah" last="Smith"]. Smith has been a huge problem for opposing offenses this season and he was an integral part of St. John’s 35-0 shutout victory over Bishop McNamara in the Cadets’ season opener. If he is able to dominate from the get go tonight then DeMatha and the [player_tooltip player_id="90641" first="Cameron" last="Edge"] offense will be in a lot of trouble.
2022 6’2 190 DB [player_tooltip player_id="90518" first="Joshua" last="Thompson"] – St. John’s
[player_tooltip player_id="90518" first="Joshua" last="Thompson"] is absolutely a top five defensive back in the state who can stay with anybody and he really doesn’t ever get beat. [player_tooltip player_id="90641" first="Cameron" last="Edge"] presents a difficult challenge for Thompson tonight because Edge is patient, poised, and smart with the football.
