Like the other divisions, there is always some of the best football players in the state each season representing the OCC. Here are some 2022 graduates to watch for Pickerington North, Westerville Central, New Albany, Westland, Grove City, and Gahanna Lincoln for this fall.
Eli Coppess Eli Coppess 6'1" | 210 lbs | DB Pickerington North | 2022 State OH 6’2” 200 DB Pickerington North
Eli aggressively attacks the ball carrier downhill when playing middle or down safety. Eli is a sure that makes solid chest up hits on the runner. He is also as effective in pass defense by making quick breaks on the deep pass denying the reception.
Braden Watts 6’1” 235 OL Pickerington North
Watts is undersized but is a solid run blocker despite working out of a two-point stance. He moves his feet well and sustains block; just has to put on more bulk. Watts could end up an offensive center.
Jason Robertson 5’10” 185 WR/K/P Westerville Central
Robertson is a do-it-all skilled athlete for Central. He is a sure handed slot receiver who can catch the football in a crowd across the middle. He also is a talented left-footed punter and place kicker with a strong leg.
Michael Ross Michael Ross 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Westerville Central | 2022 State OH 5’11” 180 RB Westerville Central
Ross is a slashing read option running back that regularly breaks tackles due to his powerful legs and thighs. He can make sharp cuts and displays deceptive speed. Ross also is impressive catching the ball out of the backfield.
Kane Baker WR/SS Gahanna Lincoln
Equally impressive both sides of the football, Baker is a real workhorse. He closes quickly from his safety position to deliver jolting tackles on the ball carrier. Baker is also a gifted receiver who has soft hands and is an excellent route runner.
Tyree Johnson 5’8” 190 LB Gahanna Lincoln
Johnson is an undersized hybrid linebacker/strong safety that is as competitive and hard-hitting defender as there is in central Ohio. Besides packing a punch when he hits, he is mobile and reactive in space. Johnson also is a hard-noised fullback on offense.
Brock Kidwell 5’11” 190 DB New Albany
This guy has a motor that doesn’t slow down till he has the ball carrier on the ground. He flies up to the perimeter and delivers devastating blows to the opponent. Kidwell is just as intimidating of a hitter when separating receivers from the football.
Makiah Crawford 6’0” 220 LB Westland
Crawford is a stocky and compact middle linebacker who uses his hands to strike, disengage, then pursue to the football. He also can play a slant and angle defensive end that defeats blocks by his quickness and lateral movement.
