Grabbing the Spotlight Quarterback D.A. Reed Russellville
It is never too early to look at some of the freshmen class that is started to catch the eyes of scouts. One player that is already making scouts and fans take notice of his skills and ability is Russellville quarterback D.A. Reed. Reed is the first-class of 2024 member that is in our Grabbing the Spotlight series for Prep Red Zone Arkansas. Let’s take a look at the freshmen quarterback for the Russellville Cyclones.
Touching briefly on Reed’s ability at the quarterback position. The young man has the arm strength to make all the throws required of him in the Cyclones offense. What really stands out when watching Reed is his accuracy throwing the football. Reed makes the deep throws look easy and he does not hang his wide receivers out to dry. Those traits are something that scouts look for in the quarterback that leads the teams.
Reed is a player that focuses on the team before he worries about individual accolades. He is focused on learning the offense that the Russellville coaching staff will be implementing this season. Reed wants the opportunity to win a state championship while playing with the Cyclones and he knows to do this learning the details of the offense is important. No one every said the nuts and the bolts are interesting but Reed knows they are vital to make the machine work.
Reed has already started to hear from a number of schools including Liberty University and Princeton University. Over the next year or so, the talent Reed has is going to cause more and more schools to reach out to the Cyclones’ quarterback. Meanwhile, Reed plans on attending a number of quarterbacks camps this offseason as well as take part in seven-on-seven competitions. Reed may also have the opportunity to attend the Manning Passing Academy if the dates will align correctly.
The bottom line is Reed is going to have a chance to light up opposing teams with his arm and those teams should be mindful that he is not afraid to pick up extra yardage with his legs. Reed has the potential to become a major division one recruit over the next few years and watching his development will be fun for scouts as well as fans. Keep your eyes on Russellville the Cyclones could surprise some folks this season.
