5 Seniors to Watch in 2021

To say that there is a plethora of talented players in the class of 2022 would be an understatement.  Here are five seniors looking to have a breakout Senior season or improve upon their great Junior season. <strong>OL, [player_tooltip player_id="113645" first="Parker" last="Lane"], 6’2", 260, Olathe North </strong> [player_tooltip player_id="113645" first="Parker" last="Lane"] is the 20th ranked OL and the 137th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He plays primarily as a C.  While run blocking, he fires out low, delivers a powerful strike to the 1T, effectively uses his good play strength in his upper and lower body to drive his man off the ball on down blocks, creating a large hole for the RB and shows very good physical toughness as he finishes the block to the ground.  On power plays where he pulls, he shows quick feet as he pulls through the hole, squares up against the LB or DB when in the secondary and delivers a punishing block clearing the way for the RB. <strong>DL, [player_tooltip player_id="89189" first="Curtis" last="Landrum"], 6’0", 200, McPherson</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="89189" first="Curtis" last="Landrum"] is the 21st ranked DL and the 150th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He had a very good Junior season in 2020 as he made 25 tackles with 4 TFL, 2 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries.  He plays as a DE where he lines up in a 4i or 5T but will occasionally play as a 3T.  He shows good burst off the ball as he fires out low, shoots his hands quickly while getting under the pads of the G or T, stacks the OL at the point of attack, uses his good play strength and physical toughness to shed the block while displaying good instincts as he takes the correct angle in pursuit and is able to bring down athletic RB with force.  Against the pass, he uses his very good quickness as he beats the man in front of him with an inside move as he penetrates the line of scrimmage into the backfield while displaying good motor and play speed as he rushes the QB and is able to get to the QB fast enough to produce a sack or a hurry leading to an incomplete pass. <strong>DB, [player_tooltip player_id="111773" first="Anthony" last="Johnson"], 5’10", 165, Maize South</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="111773" first="Anthony" last="Johnson"] is the 15th ranked DB and the 156th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He plays as a RCB where he is responsible for covering the X WR.   He is good in press coverage as he is patient with his hands, matches the feet of the WR and uses his very good play speed and athletic ability to stay in phase with his man.  Displays good ball skills as he tracks the ball in the air and times his hands effectively to get them in the way of the trajectory of the ball for a pass breakup.  He shows good ability against the run as he shows great physical toughness and play strength as he defeats the block by the larger WR and uses his play speed and range in pursuit of the ball carrier while showing good form tackling ability as he plays with good leverage and drives his shoulder through the RB or scrambling QB for the tackle. <strong>RB, [player_tooltip player_id="35608" first="Elijah" last="Harshaw"], 5’11, 165, Lawrence Free State</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="35608" first="Elijah" last="Harshaw"] is the 20th ranked RB and the 160th player overall in the class of 2022.  He displays excellent vision as he sees the open hole and uses his good burst to quickly accelerate to top speed when running through the hole.  He also possesses excellent quickness and agility to bend it back or bounce it to the outside while using his very good play speed to elude LB while in the secondary for big gains.  He is also a reliable receiver, he displays the play speed to get behind DB while running wheel routes and displays very good hands as he possesses a catch radius that enables him to make the catch on passes that are thrown high. <strong>LB, [player_tooltip player_id="89493" first="Clayton" last="Kavlick"], 5’10", 180, Blue Valley</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="89493" first="Clayton" last="Kavlick"] is the 26th ranked LB and the 190th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  In 2020, he made 14 tackles (7 solo). He plays as a MLB.  Against the run, he uses his very good football intelligence to key and diagnose the play, his good leverage and hands to defeat the block of the RG who is reaching at the second level and his very good play strength in his upper body, lower body and core to bring the larger RB down with ease.  Against the pass, he shows very good play speed and range while in pursuit of the receiver and displays good physical toughness as he delivers a punishing hit preventing a big play. &nbsp; &nbsp;
