Jaden Braun Jaden Braun OL Bismarck Century | 2022 State , Bismarck Century (ND) (2022)
Braun, currently our #1 ranked fullback in the Class of 2022, is a certified bully at fullback for the Patriots. Braun does a nice job using his 6’2 230-pound frame to get the tough yards, especially with the number of times the Patriots have been in the red zone. His ability to get leverage with his quick feet to cut up a defender is what makes him a sound fullback for the back-to-back state champs. Braun can get even better with developing a better position with his footwork when he doesn’t have the time to get the leverage like referenced above.
Tayler Williams, Bismarck Legacy (ND) (2022)
Williams is very much off the radar, but when he can set his feet and get his body on someone, he could be another sound fullback coming out of Bismarck. Williams won’t blow you away with the measurables, but I think the Sabers should certainly get this kid in their backfield more frequently as a blocker because he could do some damage with his bully-type build. Hopefully can see more film out of Williams in 2021.
Trey Sayler Trey Sayler LB Herreid/Selby | 2022 State , Herreid-Selby (SD) (2022)
Sayler’s strong yet quick stiff-arm makes him one of the toughest and best fullbacks on this list in my opinion. How many fullbacks have you ever seen that rushed for nearly 1000 yards in a season? My answer is I have never seen any with that large of a number in a season. I love how easy this kid sheds off contact as an inside runner. Also has the quickest burst I have seen on this list when he sees a gap he likes. Sayler has such a strong frame for the fullback position (6’0, 205) it’s a chess match between him and our next prospect for who will hold the #1 spot in our May update, as we hope to add fullback to our list of positions on our rankings.
Garrin Sattler Garrin Sattler TE GFRed River | 2022 State , Grand Forks Red River (ND) (2022)
Sattler currently holds the #2 spot for fullbacks/tight ends in 2022, but that certainly could change during our next rankings update. Sattler has a solid burst off the line that you can count on for more than just a few yards on a third and short or red zone situation. Sattler also is extremely patient when the football is in his hands and shows good vision when he is waiting for his blockers. Sattler also is, in my eyes, a better close-up blocker for his tailback than our one of our top prospects. Don’t be surprised to see Sattler climb slightly up the position rankings at fullback when the new rankings come out in May from this Grand Forks Red River prospect as we add the fullback position as a core position on the site.
Luke Choilis, Rapid City Stevens (SD) (2022)
With Choilis, this is more of a prediction, but I feel would be a strong move from the Raiders. I came across this kid today as a physical wrecking ball with his textbook tackling ability at linebacker. If you look at the numbers, many linebackers across the Dakotas also fill the gap at fullback, and why not line up this kid with the #1 tailback in the 2022 class Uriah Glynn Uriah Glynn 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB RC Stevens | 2022 State in the backfield? Choilis has a stout frame at 6’2 200 and, in my eyes, is a big-time flyer under the radar. I think this Raider’s linebacking core with Choilis and Gavin Skinner Gavin Skinner 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Rapid City Stevens | 2022 State could be a fun watch in 2021.
Cole Hebl Cole Hebl LB Hillsboro/Central Valley | 2023 State , Hillsboro/Central Valley (ND) (2023)
Hebl’s ability to punch thru contact yards is what makes him a threat at the fullback position. Hebl comes off as more of a running back in love with contact, which puts him in the category of a fullback. Hebl, I would define as a bully back, strong in the legs, plays bigger than most of the defenders he goes up against, and can move well in the backfield. Hebl also has good hands to make plays in the receiving core. Hebl will need to develop a stronger build if he wants to continue playing at fullback at the next level, but he has the potential to do that, with two seasons remaining at Hillsboro/Central Valley.
Samuel Burr Samuel Burr 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Mandan | 2022 State , Mandan (ND) (2022)
Burr was out for a good portion of 2020 with an injury but did impress me with his rumbling ability up the middle for the Braves. Burr, in my eyes, maybe a linebacker at the next level because of his physicality level, but with more reps at fullback and an outstanding frame (5’11, 210), this kid has the tools to see his name called in the Braves backfield in 2021. Plus, his punch at linebacker gives him the grit to succeed at fullback.
