College coaches and casual recruiting fans tend to love the thrill of new, and exciting prospects, especially as their recruitment picks up, and they receive more offers and attention than they were before. In the 2023 class, because prospects are just now gaining exposure, plenty of coaches aren’t even evaluating this class closely yet, except the clear cut, and stand out stars. This leaves for plenty of room for prospects to go unwatched early on. Below, we have listed a few prospects in Georgia’s 2023 recruiting class that are under the radar as of right now, and are certainly worth watching.
Khai Greene- Mill Creek
Greene, who already plays with great instincts as a 2023 LB, also has the ideal height, and length for his position. While he is a bit young, it comes as no surprise that he does not have more weight to his frame, but we certainly feel that he will have no problem filling out over the years. While he is a bit stiff hipped at times, he still finds ways to not only get to the ball carrier, but to get to the QB as well during pressures. Another trait that makes Greene a great prospect is his ability to take clean drop steps out of his stance, which ultimately assists his discipline in playing his position. Due to his athleticism, his reactionary skills are also a plus, but we would like to see him work on his speed as he develops as a bigger piece to his team’s defense.
Tank Morris- Toombs County
One of the most impressive things about Greene’s game as a young player is his ability to move sideline to sideline, and catch ball carriers in pursuit. With this, we also like his flexibility in his stance, and ability to explode, and move quickly out of it, reacting well to the play at hand. With this, as it is evidently clear, Morris also has a solid build, and frame, which will certainly will be beautiful for college coaches to see. Morris can also be seen as a tenacious LB, as he braces contact well and finds ways to come downhill, and make plays. As he continues to develop, we want to see him develop in his drop steps at times.
Terry Lemon- McDonough
When watching tape on Lemon, it is impressive enough that he sees the field so much for his age, and seeing him execute effectively is even more impressive. He not only takes on blocks, and rips off of them well, but has a nose for the football, and making key stops. His frame and build also helps him in situations of contact. While he can move a bit stiffly at times, we like his motor and effort to keep his responsibilities each play. Lemon also does a great job of finishing plays which does a ton for his defense. As he continues to develop, we would like to see him clean up his stance, and ability to fire out of it as the play is in action.
Jacarian Grier- Jasper
Grier, who also plays WR, is a very long, and tall prospect for his age. Not only does he show fluid, and pure athleticism in his movement skills, but he shows that he is disciplined in his reads and ability make his way around the field. Grier also gets sideline to sideline very well, and is not afraid of contact. He has a bit of quickness to him, and we like the way he can flip his hips, and play in coverage as well. This makes him a versatile backer for his age, with plenty of room for growth and development. Grier is definitely a prospect to track, and get excited about in regards to his potential, and developmental ability.
