Spearfish- The Yellow Jackets added 6 players from the Dakotas area of the 38 signees in their 2021 recruiting class. In this report, I will highlight what stands out about these recruits, as well as what they will contribute to the Yellow Jacket squad in the future.
[player_tooltip player_id="56345" first="John" last="Noordsy"], TE, Brookings SD:
Noordsy is one of the most versatile TE’s I’ve watched. Like any TE, he has a reliable set of hands and can run routes well enough to get open on many plays. The key skill that sets Noordsy apart from other TE’s is his blocking, he has the footwork and hand technique of an OL to be a great blocker in the run game.

[player_tooltip player_id="56349" first="Kohl" last="Meisman"], QB, Rapid City Central SD:
Meisman has a good frame at QB, height and muscle tone. He has a lot of raw talent that might take little time for him to reach his peak potential at the next level. He is mobile and has good pocket presence, but is also calm and keeps his eyes downfield when scrambling. Meisman has a good arm for the deep ball, throw darts on the shorter routes, and also accurate throwing on the run.

Caleb Simons, ATH, Edgemont SD:
Simons had film from two years ago that I watched, I have never seen 6-man football before, but watching this kid on film was entertaining. He was very shifty and made plays with both his feet and arm. Being elusive, defenders thought twice before going full-speed at him, knowing a quick move from him and he’d be put of their reach. He also had a good arm making those deep throws, usually on the run if the defense blitzed.

[player_tooltip player_id="56339" first="Cody" last="Thompson"], QB, Lemmon-McIntosh SD:
Thompson has a rocket for an arm, but also has pin-point accuracy. He seemed very comfortable in the pocket, and his presence to move around in it makes him seem very calm on the move. Thompson is very patient letting his receivers get open downfield and moves around to make his throwing windows bigger, and he does a great job leading his receivers.

Kashas Vander Wal, OL, Sioux Valley SD:
Vander Wal is a quick blocker when he goes for the down block to open gaps for the run game. He has quick feet to get off the ball with his first step after he snaps it. He is also smart and knows his assignment on each play, finds the biggest threat at defender and picks up blitzes well.

[player_tooltip player_id="56376" first="Zach" last="Farrell"], FB, Red River HS (Grand Forks, ND):
They listed him as a Fullback (FB), but he was an OT/DT in high school. He has great footwork to set up the perimeter runs on offense, also has great hand technique to engage his blocks. The move to FB will be a good one, using his attributes as a lineman and getting him a head start for a block will be bad news for the defenders. His size will make him tough to bring down when he carries the ball, but mostly, Farrell will open up big gaps for the run game to spring big runs.
