A lot of these guys have had their early reps as a freshman then showed out during their sophomore season. There are three special defensive backs from Cardinal Ritter’s ’23 class that are built different.
Marvin Burks. There’s no question that Burks is an elite defensive back. The 6 foot 2 athlete covers receivers like a sheet every play. He has great pursuit to the ball, and he uses his height to his advantage whenever the ball is in the air. This past season, Burks amassed 38 tackles and two interceptions. His size and strength is what makes him stand out amongst all of the other defensive backs in his class. Recently, Burks picked up offers from Kansas University and the University of West Virginia. He will capture more college coaches attention in the years to come.
Malikh Riggins. Riggins is a certified hustler on defense. He’s not just a corner that can cover really good, but he can lay the boom on anybody on offense. This past season, Riggins racked up 40 tackles. He is strong and extremely physical off the line. During this offseason, Riggins has been training consistently, along with Burks, to be one of the best defensive backs in the St. Louis area. The next two years will be his breakout seasons.
Michael Tillman. Just Like Riggins, Tillman is another physical corner who loves to hit. He is an expert on keeping outside containment and is very quick to get to the ball. Tillman is also a huge asset on special teams, setting the tone on kickoff. Last season, he collected a total of 33 tackles and an interception. Tillman has also been invited to the Six Star Football Showcase Series. This young defensive back will do great things in the next two years.
