However, the class of 2022 has more depth than just these two beasts. Today we are looking at 5 hidden gems at the defensive back spot.
Tylar Belcher, Lowndes
Belcher is a great cover corner who is sound fundamentally. While he is slightly undersized at 5’8” 160, he still has his senior year to grow and put on some more weight. His athleticism flashes on film, as he accelerates and changes directions quickly. Belcher flies up the alley to support in the run game and against screens. He was amazing this past season, in 12 games he had 50 total tackles and 6 interceptions. He is fast and uses it to his advantage to catch up to receivers. Belcher excels playing the deep third, jumping routes, and causing havoc on the back end. His ball skills are solid. Belcher has the ability to succeed at the DII level.

Angelo Brown Jr, Walton
Brown Jr plays with the physicality any team would want from their safety. He is a fundamentally sound tackler, that wraps up ball carriers. He had a strong junior season, he finished the year with 89 total tackles, 3 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles. Brown is an athletic playmaker, he had a fantastic lunging interception this past season. Walton uses Brown in the slot most often, where he can cover under routes and help in the run game. He has the ability to come up in the alley to support in the run game and against screens. Brown is well-rounded and has many desirable traits for a great safety. He is a player worth watching this offseason and next season.

Jamori Wright, Appling County
Wright is a promising prospect that has yet to garner the attention his skills demand. He is a ball-hawking corner that is consistently looking for opportunities to make plays. He demonstrated this last season, as he racked up 8 interceptions along with 47 total tackles and 1 forced fumble in 11 games. Also, 2 of his interceptions were pick-sixes. He does a great job covering his zone and shading towards receivers. He is comfortable covering the sideline and deep third. He accelerates well when pursuing screens. Wright possesses solid change of direction skills. Wright is a factor in defending the run too. He flashes the ability to come up and meet ball carriers. He looks comfortable playing corner or safety. He is a legit defensive back prospect to keep an eye out for.

Jolan Hannor, Macon County
Hannor plays offense, defense, and special teams for Macon County and is an overall good athlete. On defense, he plays safety. He is a good athlete with good change of direction skills and solid leaping ability. Hannor is a good ball hawk and protects the back end of the defense well. This past season, Hannor compiled 30 total tackles, 6 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, and 4 fumble recoveries. He’s a tough competitor. He is willing to support in the run game and shows a nice burst when coming downhill at ball carriers. Hannor has a good football IQ and takes solid angles. Hannor shows a lot of promise to add value to a collegiate program.

There is a ton to like about Bin-Wahad’s game, he is a versatile defensive back. He is comfortable playing corner or safety and outside or in the slot. He has good cover skills, he is consistently in a good position to prevent a big play over the top. Aside from his cover skills, he is a tremendous athlete. He has great recovery speed, baiting quarterbacks into throwing contested passes. Bin-Wahad flips hips and gets in and out of breaks very well. He had a strong showing this season for a dominant Grayson team. Bin-Wahad finished the season with 24 total tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 3 interceptions, and 1forced fumble. He is a good open-field tackler and does not give up extra yards. He has received offers from Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Kansas among others.
