<em>With the release of the updated 2022 Player Rankings, we’ve launched a series of evaluations on the newcomers to the rankings based on position. We added over 100 players to the most recent update highlighting players that popped during the 2020 season and have seen their recruiting on the rise. Here’s an in-depth look at the new offensive lineman to the rankings.</em> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="100651" first="Mason" last="Cullop"], Cactus, 6’4” 270 lbs. </strong> Cullop racked up the accolades in 2020 by being named the 4A offensive lineman of the year and 2nd team All-Arizona. He’s a solid interior offensive lineman that is capable of playing guard or center at the next level. Possesses a good combination of size (6’4” 270 lbs.) and athleticism. He moves extremely well for his size with good feet, bend, and lateral mobility. Does a great job using that mobility to work to the second level and execute different types of blocks such as quick pulls, long pulls, chip blocks, etc. He plays with good pad level and leverage at the POA that allows him to overpower opponents and finish his blocks. Recruiting attention should pick up for him if he continues on the same upward trajectory. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="100652" first="Cooper" last="Stevens"], Highland, 6’4” 265 lbs.</strong> Stevens has a great foundation of size and natural ability to build on as he progresses. He’s violent and aggressive at the contact point often finishing his blocks with opponents on their back or driven off the LOS. His raw power and strength allow him to move and overpower defenders. Shows functional mobility and short area quickness that has continued to improve as he grows into his body and gains game experience. Awarded 6A 1st Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-State, he has the talent, ability, and size to play at the D1 level. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="100678" first="Nicholas" last="Okolita"], Casteel, 6’3” 265 lbs. </strong> Flashes natural ability and upside. He shows good consistency and effectiveness in both the run and in pass protection. He’s strong at the POA and drives his legs through contact. Good ability to isolate one-on-one with a defender and win those matchups. Shows he can latch on and efficiently use his hands without letting the defender to get into his body. Excels when he can fire off the line and deliver contact but also displays a good ability to move his feet and match a pass rushers lateral movement to maintain positional leverage in his pass set. Would like to see him improve his pad level, tends to get too high out of his stance but a good all-around offensive lineman that is already receiving D1 recruiting attention. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="100687" first="Jadon" last="Cisco"], Round Valley, 6’0” 255 lbs. </strong> Has been the center piece and consistent force for the successful Round Valley OL for the past two seasons. Holds a strong and sturdy frame at 6’0” 255 lbs. with a strong lower half. His powerful initial punch allows him to get a good push off the LOS. Demonstrates a good ability to anchor down and post in his pass set to absorb contact and maintain his gap. Shows he can work to the second level and effectively pull but could show improvement in his overall mobility and movement. Good on the defensive side as well but was awarded All-State and All-Region as an offensive lineman in 2020. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="100691" first="Ryan" last="Wheaton"], Basha, 6’0” 220 lbs.</strong> Showed great consistency as a first-year starter for the strong Basha O-line. He’s a very good athlete that can run, bend, and move his feet. Good explosion and quickness out of his stance allows him to beat opponents to the spot and gain initial leverage. He’s smart and instinctive in the way he attacks opponents understanding his angles and where to intersect depending on the play. He has shown great year over year improvement and will be one to watch as he continues to add weight and develop. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="100709" first="Cole" last="Germinaro"], Pinnacle, 6’4” 250 lbs.</strong> Well balanced frame at 6’4” 250 lbs. with plus length. Shows good quick hands with a strong punch and understands effective hand placement. Decent athlete that showed he can move his feet and work to the second level, pull, or get to the perimeter on screens. Does a great job sustaining his blocks and mirroring defenders lateral movement. Good power and strength at the POA, demonstrated he can finish his blocks. Performed extremely well against some very good opponents throughout the 2020 season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="100724" first="Denzel" last="Glass"], Coolidge, 6’4” 290 lbs.</strong> Big strong frame at 6’4” 290 lbs. He has a good first step and shows a good ability to get a strong push on the snap of the ball. He’s raw in terms of technique, leverage, and footwork but possesses a good natural skill set and foundation to build on. Love his tough and physical nature as a blocker. Awarded 2nd team All-Region in 2020.
