In the coming weeks rankings will be updated for the State of Oregon for the classes of 2021, 2022, and 2023. Individuals referenced here are all athletes who could see a nice bump when the lists are revealed.
*No Particular Order
[player_tooltip player_id="107623" first="Andrew" last="Savaiinaea"] 6-3 220 OLB The Dalles 22’- Most are now aware of Savaiinaea after a very successful sophomore season playing for WA state power Eastside Catholic. Look for most of the Pac 12 and a host of other Power 5 schools to offer, following Cal, Oregon St and UCLA offering this past week.
[player_tooltip player_id="108135" first="Mikey" last="Gibson"] 6-2 190 QB Canby 22’- What will be one of the top ranked QB’s and players for the 2022 class in Oregon. Head Coach Jimmy Joyce compares him to Colorado QB Sam Noyer, both athletes he coached.
[player_tooltip player_id="104685" first="Riley" last="Williams"] 6-7 230 TE/DE Central Catholic 23’- As of right now the fastest rising recruit in Oregon for the 2023 class. He doesn’t have Varsity film yet, but his size and overall athleticism were enough for Arizona St and Oregon St to offer early.
[player_tooltip player_id="28878" first="Max" last="Von Arx"] 6-4 190 WR Grant 22’- A multi-sport standout, most people aren’t aware of Van Ark who earned 2nd team all-conference honors as a Sophomore. Look for him to be ranked towards the top of the charts among WR’s in the 2022 class.
[player_tooltip player_id="28840" first="Kaden" last="Ludwick"] 6-5 240 OLB/DE Clackamas 22’- Kaden might be getting tired of me speaking on him, but as stated numerous times as of late, he should be considered the fastest rising recruit in the state in my opinion. His recent offer from Colorado will be the first of many.
[player_tooltip player_id="28788" first="Slade" last="Shufelt"] 6-2 220 LB Hillsboro 21’- Shufelt could be the biggest steal of any recruit in the 2021’ class. From a testing standpoint he is a freak and can play 3-4 different positions at the D1 level IMO.
[player_tooltip player_id="105445" first="Dontae" last="Myrick"] 6-6 250 DE/T Jefferson 21’- Myrick was injured most of his Junior season, but had a breakout National Preps Collegiate Showcase event a few months back. He is on multiple D1 boards right now and can play on either side of the football, most likely projecting at tackle.
[player_tooltip player_id="105444" first="Jalen" last="Grable"] 6-4 210 WR Westview 21’- After starting as a freshman and Sophomore at the Varsity level, Grable took his Junior year off football to play hoops. IMO he is potentially the best WR in the state for his class and a unquestioned D1 athlete.
DeMarcus Houston 6-2 175 ATH West Albany 23’- Another kid with a stock that has jumped up big in the last few months. Multiple D1s have inquired as Houston has taken his talents up North to play for Tracy Ford and FSP on the 7v7 circuit.
[player_tooltip player_id="28858" first="Dylan" last="Layne"] 6-2 195 Safety Lake Oswego 22’- Look for Layne to make a big jump in the rankings and be listed among the top Safeties in Oregon. His physicality and smarts separate him.
[player_tooltip player_id="105447" first="Bryce" last="Caufield"] 6-5 220 TE/WR Lakeridge 21’- The transfer from Southern California has committed as a Preferred Walk on to Oregon State. This was a huge get for OSU as he has the potential of being the state’s #1 WR for the 2021 class in Oregon.
[player_tooltip player_id="108137" first="Zack" last="Schlottmann"] 6-3 220 TE/K Glencoe 22’- Nothing but respect for this kid as he should be considered one of the most versatile athletes in Oregon for his class, and someone who will play a big role in Glencoe’s rising status.
[player_tooltip player_id="28892" first="Kage" last="Casey"] 6-5 230 DE/ T Clackamas 22’- Very few are aware of Casey as he didn’t play a ton of Varsity ball as a Sophomore, but he has legit size and a motor coming off the edge. Look for him to potentially be a factor on O as well.
[player_tooltip player_id="28898" first="Jamar" last="Flippen"] 5-10 175 ATH Banks 22’- Flippen has been one of the most impressive kids in all of Oregon on the camp circuit. He had an outstanding Sophomore year on both sides of the football. It’s tough to get recruited at the 4A level, so he will need to continue to impress against the region’s top competition.
[player_tooltip player_id="28902" first="Dom" last="Montiel"] 6-3 185 QB Marshfield 22’- Montiel had a breakout National Preps Showcase a few months back after a successful Sophomore season starting at QB. His size and overall athleticism have put him on the map.
[player_tooltip player_id="28789" first="Flynn" last="Schiele"] 6-4 190 WR West Linn 21’- Schiele is just underrated. The Lions have a loaded roster and are a clear cut #1 state wide. Look for [player_tooltip player_id="28720" first="Blake" last="DeBisschop"] to pick secondaries apart using Schiele as a primary target.
[player_tooltip player_id="28741" first="Jackson" last="Montfort"] 6-2 190 DB Grant 21’- Another athlete who isn’t necessarily known by name, but is super talented. Montfort has size and earned 1st team all-conference accolades as a Junior. Definitely one of the best DB’s in Oregon for his class.
[player_tooltip player_id="28759" first="Kaanan" last="Huffman"] 6-4 225 DE West Linn 21’- I really like Huffman. He can play multiple spots on the field and isn’t just big. Assuming the season gets underway shortly expect him to project as a 1st or 2nd team all-state athlete.
[player_tooltip player_id="28786" first="Justin" last="Hughes"] 5-9 160 DB Mountainside 21’- One of the best athletes in Oregon period. I can’t say enough good things about Hughes. Regardless of his size some university is going to get a steal.
[player_tooltip player_id="28781" first="Devik" last="Chiang"] 6-3 185 WR Grants Pass 21’- Another individual where very few are aware, with him playing down South. GP is one of the best places to play in the region on a Friday night and Chiang is a legit athlete with size.
Mark Hamper 6- 1 195 RB/LB West Linn 23’- Look for Hamper to make an impact as a Sophomore and be a conference & state player of the year candidate as a Junior and Senior. He is that good.
Brock Thomas 6-0 175 QB Sheldon 23’- As most know Sheldon has produced some of the state’s top quarterbacks over the years. Thomas still has a long way to go but expect him to be in the conversation when we are talking about Oregon’s best for 2023.
