With now 2 NAIA schools in Arizona, the NAIA recruitment competition has began to grow tougher. Especially with the chaotic COVID season having a massive affect on recruiting, NAIA programs have been landing athletes with D2-FCS level talent. Arizona has been clutch in every level of talent, so take a look at the notable NAIA commits thus far:
[player_tooltip player_id="93263" first="Brock" last="Mast"], QB, Liberty HS: <strong>Rocky Mountain College <img class="alignright wp-image-73628" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2020/11/Rocky_Mountain_College_MT.jpg" alt="" width="133" height="160" /></strong>
Mast steps up and moves and well in the pocket and delivers balls with solid placement with a fluid over the top throwing motion. He uses touch on deep balls and did a great job consistently hitting receivers in stride. He does a great job keeping his eyes downfield when the pocket collapses to connect with receivers without panicking. Rocky Mountain is getting a stud and projects as a multi-year starter.
<strong><em>Max Garcia,</em></strong> OL/DL<strong><em>,</em></strong> Desert Edge HS: <strong>Rocky Mountain College</strong>
Garcia plays with a mean streak and is a very aggressive two-way player. On the OL, he finishes blocks to the ground with power and shows good short area quickness and agility to pull or get to the second level. He holds ground well in the pass set and maintains solid leverage overall. He shows excellent physicality all around and won't back down from anyone.
<strong><em>Damen Cornett, </em></strong>FB<strong><em>,</em></strong>Queen Creek HS: <strong>Ottawa University (AZ)</strong>
Cornett was an excellent utility player for Queen Creek. At FB, he did a great job using leverage and power to win one on one blocks to open up lanes for ball carriers. He also was able to sneak out into the flat often on play action and catch passes to quickly get upfield for solid chunks of yards. He lined up as a down TE and did a great job opening up holes for ball carriers, especially around the goal line.
<strong><em>Dane White</em></strong>, QB, Perry HS: <strong>University of Jamestown <img class="alignright wp-image-83870" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2020/12/university-of-jamestown.jpg" alt="" width="154" height="154" /></strong>
After only a 2 game senior season, White may be the biggest sleeper to commit. He is very athletic and showed the ability to throw accurate balls with touch or velocity on the move in both directions. He ran RPO's very well and showed flashes of being able to pick up yards with his feet. Very good all around athlete.
<em><strong>Luis Felix</strong></em>, LB, Trevor Browne HS: <strong>Mayville State University</strong>
Felix reacts and flies to the ball very well. He showed solid range as an OLB and did a good job disengaging from blocks to make plays on outside runs. He was effective in blitz packages and showed flashes of overpowering offensive linemen to get into the backfield. Felix is a high energy kid and will fit well up at Mayville.
