Proctor is not only one of the premier prospects in Iowa but also in the country, for that matter. He’s so quick to the point of attack and does a good job exploding off the football with a low pad level. He’s a physical finisher with great hand placement and exceptional knee drive. He’s light on his feet as a pass protector and can easily re-direct against counter moves. To me, Proctor is a four-star type of talent and should have offers from pretty much everywhere in the country by the time he’s a senior.
DL: Andrew DePaepe, 6’6, 230, Pleasant Valley
A long pass rusher with strong hands that is fearless against the run. DePaepe has a mean rip move and shows no issues sinking his hips to get low on opposing tackles. He’s a high effort kid who has shown the ability to chase plays down from the backside. On tape, it was not uncommon to see him put tackles on skates at times with his bull rush. To me, Andrew is a no-brainer division one type kid and has a very high ceiling with his frame and overall strength.
WR: Aidan Hall, 6’2, 190, Harlan
I’d like to see Mr. Hall’s vertical, cause man can this kid climb the ladder and snatch the football out of the air. He easily tracks the football in the air and shows overall good build up speed. On film, he turns into a running back after the catch and is rarely brought down by the first tackler. He understands the soft spots in zone coverage and isn’t afraid to take a shot from opposing defenders. He’s spectacular at catching the football in traffic and rarely loses a 50/50 ball.
ATH: Jonathan Humpal, 6’, 170, Lewis Central
A slot receiver who can get you the tough yards after contact. Humpal’s balance is downright special and makes him one of the more tough ball carriers to tackle in Iowa. He’s a dangerous return man, with good patience and impressive top-end speed. He’s versatile on top of it and has the ability to line up in the backfield & play running back if need be. I think it’s too early to say what he’ll play at the next level, but I do think his biggest asset is his ability to play multiple positions on the field.
DB: Watts McBride, 6’1, 180, Washington
I wrote about McBride a few months ago and was beyond impressed by how he finished his sophomore season. McBride totaled 70.5 tackles, 5.5 TFL’s & 1 forced fumble. He’s a strong blitzer off the edge and will give up his body to hit wideouts. It’s hard to find a sophomore who plays fearless and will consistently speed his feet on contact, but Mr. McBride does. To me, he’s a strong safety at the next level and could provide some value at nickel as well.
DL: David Borchers, 6’4, 255, North Scott
Borchers is a terror to single block and features good size for an interior defensive lineman. His punch has some serious pop behind it and will snap an offensive linemen’s head back. He consistently fought through blocks and showed the ability to eat up double teams. He plays with a sense of urgency and refuses to give up on plays. I think Borchers is only going to get better and will develop into a nice 3 technique at the next level.
