Just when many felt the Class of 1971 was the best ever – then along came 1990, 2003, 2007, 2010 and of course every year leading up the next four classes.
The talent is absurd. National Championship defensive secondary – and quarterback will certainly back that up this year that Floridians are making their mark everywhere. It is a fact, and it shows up in every story, stat and on roster from the defending World Champion Kansas City Chiefs – to just about every arena league team and into the CFL, where standouts are on every roster.
Just as the talented Class of 2021 is still trying to place all of the seniors who haven’t signed yet, the Class of 2022 is certainly on the clock – and the NCAA “Dark Period” and Covid have not helped in the process.
The talent train is not stopping anytime soon. The Class of 2023 is so stacked, college offers have already began to pour in – along with national showcase invites and other recruiting perks.
As we do every day, bringing you prospects is what this website is all about. Today, we bring you five Class of 2023 prospects from across the Sunshine State.
Jalen Brown, WR, 6-0, 170, Miami Gulliver Prep. Before he arrived at Gulliver Prep, he was best known for his speed as a track star. But this season changed that all – as he used his speed, athletic ability and talent to dominate and shoot up the charts – as not only one of the top local prospects, but he is being regarded as one of the elite statewide and nationally. He stays healthy and the sky is the limit.

Kaven Call, DE, 6-3, 225, Apopka. Falling short of getting back to the 8A state championship game this past season, the Blue Darters will certainly find their way back with football talent like this amazing pass rusher, who is big, quick and strong – and he has two full seasons left to grow and show why he is easily among the best in this class – anywhere in the country. In addition to being a huge force on defense, this program also used him on the offensive side of the ball – to help clear the way for a solid running game.

Pearce Spurlin, TE, 6-6, 210, Santa Rosa Beach South Walton. Talk about someone who’s reputation certainly made some noise during his freshman year, this is a talented young man who moved to Florida after his freshman season in Georgia – and there were a lot of people caught off guard. This is a big time a football player, who has already committed to the University of Georgia. Because this area of the state is far removed from some of the other hotbed areas, the new of this standout took a few weeks to get out – and he did not disappoint. A major talent who is already who is one of the best in the country.

Treyaun Webb, RB, 6-0, 190, Jacksonville Trinity Christian. All season long, they talked about this gifted football player – and by the time he and his teammates reached the 3A state championship game, he was fully on display. A solid runner with size, athletic ability and a running style that is tough to stop. He will definitely be among the nation’s best over the next few years.

Richard Young, RB, 6-0, 190, Lehigh. Watch him play as a sophomore and he was big kid with some speed that held his own against prospects three and four years older. This year, he came back a more knowledge football player who had made that adjustment to high school football. He is still learning – and will make his mistakes, but when all is said and done, this is a big time back, who has speed, strength and is learning more and more about the position all the time.
