Georgia is known to be home to tons of great football talent and the quarterback position is no exception. The class of 2022 is headlined by 5 star recruit, [player_tooltip player_id="33862" first="Gunner" last="Stockton"], from Rabun County. However, Stockton is not the only promising quarterback from the class of 2022, multiple quarterbacks from that class have shown great promise. Let’s highlight some of these other quarterbacks.
[player_tooltip player_id="33932" first="Holden" last="Geriner"], Benedictine Geriner has a great arm and throws a great deep ball. He puts enough air under his deep shots to allow his receivers to run underneath the ball and catch it in stride. He has good ball placement on his short and intermediate throws, leading his receivers. Geriner is efficient, completing 68% of his passes this season. He put forth a strong performance, finishing the year with 2,770 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. Have to love the great job he does taking care of the football. Geriner has good pocket awareness. While he is not a dual-threat quarterback, he is athletic enough to buy time and extend plays. Geriner has the ability to throw on the run, his accuracy does not drop off too much. With that being said he still had 37 carries for 116 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. Geriner can definitely add value to a college program and it is no surprise that he has offers from Georgia, Florida, and Cincinnati. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="33915" first="Tyler" last="Hughes"], Marietta Hughes starred for Marietta this past season, totaling 2,703 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. He had the fourth-most passing touchdowns among the class of 2022. Hughes has good touch and can drop the ball over linebackers to his receivers. He has also demonstrated the ability to make back shoulder throws. He can throw outside and the numbers and has the potential to run the spread offense. Hughes can throw out, in, and seem routes with enough consistency. Hughes’ passing is only one half of his game as he is a dual-threat. Hughes has a good burst and can quickly pick up yards on the ground. This past season he rushed for 535 yards and 8 touchdowns. Hughes has received offers from Western Carolina, Gardner-Webb, and Miami (OH). Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="104910" first="David" last="Renard"], Flowery Branch Renard is a dual-threat QB with great potential. He can hurt defenses with his legs, he is a very shifty player. He had 61 rushes this year for 472 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. His mobility helps him extend plays and buy time in the pocket. Renard looks comfortable rolling out the pocket and is still able to be accurate. He can make a good variety of throws on the route tree including posts and seems. He is a playmaker, he completed 64.7% of his passes for 2,655 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. Despite his slender frame, he is not afraid to take a shot to get his throw off. I like how he keeps the ball tucked closed to him when running, which explains why he only lost 1 fumble this season. He does the little things well. He makes sure to sell his fake handoffs and excels on play-action plays. He is definitely a quarterback to keep an eye on this offseason and next season. Highlights Zach Holtzclaw, Dawson County Holtzclaw has a great arm and throws the ball with a lot of zip. He can throw the ball into windows. Holtzclaw does not make too many bad throws. He can throw the out, corner, post, and seem routes very well. Holtzclaw can air it out, throwing a good deep ball. He had 2,513 passing yards this season with a completion percentage of 61%. He had 25 touchdowns and 5 interceptions and helped Dawson County field an explosive offense. Holtzclaw is athletic and is not afraid to take off when he sees a lane. He finished the season with 5 rushing touchdowns. Holtzclaw looks very comfortable when rolling out the pocket and can hit his receivers on the run. Holtzclaw’s play shows many desirable traits and should definitely be on colleges’ watchlist. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="33973" first="Lonnie" last="Ratliff IV"], Duluth Ratliff is an accurate passer with good decision making. He does a good job not forcing the ball. This past season he completed 66.3% of his 249 pass attempts for 2,505 yards with 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Ratliff has great touch, consistently throwing the ball over defenders. He throws a great intermediate ball. He can throw the deep out, dig, and seam routes well. He’s a dual-threat and turned many potentially negative plays into positive plays. His mobility helps him extend drives and make plays. On 45 carries, he rushed for 136 yards and 1 touchdown. He runs the read option well. Ratliff is comfortable outside the pocket and can make accurate throws on the run. He has the tools to succeed at the collegiate level. Highlights
