1. Cade Klubnik Cade Klubnik 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Austin Westlake | 2022 State TX – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
A household name in the state of Texas, especially after helping his team win the state championship, Klubnik is a player to watch for multiple reasons. This past season, Klubnik threw for 3,495 yards and 35 touchdowns with just three interceptions. Klubnik excelled all seasons and never truly had a bad game, and even had a stretch of three games where he threw four touchdowns in each game against Cedar Ridge, Smithson Valley and Stevens. Even against the toughest competition, Klubnik played with passion and led his team to victory, leading his team to an undefeated season. He, and Westlake, will be looking to repeat in the 2021-22 season.
2. Diego Tello – Bowie High School (Austin, TX)
Last season, Tello threw for 1,969 yards and 22 touchdowns with eight interceptions, with what has been reported on MaxPreps. As a team, Bowie did not have a great season, but Tello had several bright spots including throwing for 515 yards and eight touchdowns against Austin. Tello will be a quarterback to watch next season as Bowie looks to fix the things the team needs to fix in preparation for the next season.
3. Grayson Doggett – Hutto High School (Hutto, TX)
Although the Hippos had an unsuccessful season, Doggett had some bright spots throughout the season that showed potential. He threw for 1,389 yards and 13 touchdowns with nine interceptions. One of his best games was against McNeil when he threw for 190 yards and four touchdowns but also struggled against Round Rock when he threw for five interceptions. Still, there is potential for growth and if he can fine-tune his decision-making, Doggett could be a dark horse threat in Central Texas.
4. Dior Bradfield – Weiss High School (Pflugerville, TX)
Weiss did not come away with a lot of wins last season, but Bradfield turned a lot of heads when looking at quarterbacks. According to MaxPreps, Bradfield threw for 1,955 yards and 22 touchdowns while not throwing a single interception. One of his best performances came against Rudder early on into the season as he threw for 326 yards and six touchdowns. However, he also shined against a tough Pflugerville team when he threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns. He also almost led his team to victory over Hendrickson, when he threw for 396 yards and four touchdowns. Weiss, as a team, has some improvements to make, but if Bradfield has all the right tools, he could lead Weiss to success in his final season.
5. Payton Adams – East View High School (Georgetown, TX)
East View had an average season, but Adams had a fantastic junior season, throwing for 2,562 yards and 29 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. One of his best performances came during the playoffs when he threw for five touchdowns against Alamo Heights. Much like Weiss, East View just has a few improvements to make, and Adams needs to work on his decision-making, but the Patriots are just a few steps away from being a ate title threat, especially since they got so close this past season. It would not be too surprising to see East View charge ahead towards a state title next season.
