Today we will be starting a brand new series to draw all the attention we can to the top remaining uncommitted seniors in Wisconsin. With signing day only a couple weeks away there is no better time than now to make sure that colleges aren’t missing out on any college level talent. With it being Day One of this series we are going to start with the most important position on the field. Quarterbacks. For each QB on this list I will provide a quick scouting report of what the film tells us and any other pieces of information that may be important to know. So, let’s not waste any more time and get this series started! [player_tooltip player_id="30751" first="Caden" last="Nelson"], 6’3" 200 lbs- Waunakee Caden isn’t just one of the best available QBs, he is one of the top overall QBs in the state. This makes him one of the biggest names still available to college programs. He has a lot to offer too. He has the prototypical size and it comes with the arm strength to match. Nelson’s film is full of him delivering deep bombs and hitting windows with really good velocity. It’s also full of impressive accuracy to all three levels of the field. His arm checks off a lot of the boxes you look for. Another key area of his game is his athleticism. It shows up in two areas. The first is that he does a really good job of maneuvering in the pocket to buy more time and to avoid pressure. The second is that he can threaten a defense with his running ability. Caden has no problem picking up first downs and other chunks of yardage on the ground. Nelson is the most well rounded QB still available in my eyes. From what I can tell he holds offers from Loras College and MNSU- Mankato. [player_tooltip player_id="30837" first="Adam" last="Moen"], 6’3" 185 lbs- Lake Mills Moen has been the leader of one of the most productive offenses in the state for the past two seasons. He has been handled the responsibility of his huge role in the offense really well. He consistently gave his team the best chance to win every Friday Night. The best trait that Adam brings to the table is his spot on accuracy. He can put the ball on a spot at short, intermediate, and deep routes consistently. He has shown that he can go through progressions when his primary read is covered. When he is pressured he doesn’t panic either. He can buy time with his legs and when he is buying time he does a really good job of keeping his eyes downfield. Moen isn’t afraid to take off if nothing opens up either and he can do some damage with his legs. [player_tooltip player_id="30801" first="Drew" last="Hanson"], 6’2" 190 lbs- Edgerton Drew has one of the best frames on this list when I watch him on tape. The lefty QB shreds defenses in the short to intermediate range. He delivers his passes with his touch and accuracy instead of just firing the ball around with a cannon arm. Hanson does have enough of the functional arm strength to get the ball downfield when he needs to though. His junior film shows him delivering 40+ yard passes accurately. Just like the other top QBs in this list, Drew can threaten a defense with his legs by buying time and keeping his eyes downfield and throwing on the run or by taking off and creating big plays with his play speed. [player_tooltip player_id="30807" first="Josh" last="Bauer"], 6’ 200 lbs- Lourdes Academy This is one of my favorite players to watch on film. Josh can do so much. He can execute the gameplan with perfect timing and anticipation and when the play breaks down he can go back to the recess days and just make something out of nothing. Bauer throws with good velocity on his throws too. He can zip the ball to any place on the field with accuracy. When he gets to stand in the pocket and survey the field he shreds defenses. Then when they get pressure on him he has the athleticism to avoid pressure and the ability to make those same accurate throws with good velocity while on the run. Josh can also make throws while not being able to step into his throws perfectly. He isn’t afraid to stare down the barrel of a free rusher while delivering a pass either. He’s a true football player. [player_tooltip player_id="30881" first="Bryce" last="Barbian"], 6’1" 190 lbs- Cudahy Bryce is one of the athletes on this list that won’t play his senior season until this spring. The junior film gives us plenty to be excited about though. Bryce is a natural thrower of the ball. Whether he is scrambling out of the pocket or standing tall in the pocket he can make pretty much any throw you ask of him in the short to intermediate range whether with his feet set or off platform. He is an athlete too. When he gets into the open field he looks more like an RB than a QB. He is not going to go down without a fight. Barbian never seems to panic either. His eyes are always downfield and he will stare down the barrel of a pass rusher just to give his receiver an extra half second to break free so he can deliver the ball. [player_tooltip player_id="30816" first="Brady" last="Hoppert"], 6’2" 170 lbs- Martin Luther Quick disclaimer, I don’t believe Brady has a twitter, but from what I can tell it does look like his recruitment is still open. Hoppert is a natural pocket passer. He will need some time to fill out more at the next level, but when he does and inevitably adds more arm strength he will be a nice piece for an offense. Brady excels when he can get into a rhythm. He does such a good job of getting the ball out of his hands quickly and with accuracy. He cuts up defenses in the short to intermediate range with his that accuracy and his touch. It’s so clear that he had a great understanding of his offense. His timing, ability to go through his progressions, and his eye manipulation show me that he has a strong handle on the mental side of the game. Give him that time to continue to improve on the physical side and you could be rewarded with a key contributor for a college offense. [player_tooltip player_id="94725" first="Ezra" last="Stein"], 6’1" 205 lbs- Cambridge You could classify Ezra as an Athlete if you wanted to. He is a do it all type player. He won offensive and defensive player of the year this past fall in his conference. As a QB, Stein is a dual threat prospect. He runs in the 4.6s, so he has plenty of ability to pick up chunk plays. He also has a sturdy frame that can handle the punishment of picking up yards after contact in the run game. As a passer, Ezra finds success with his touch and accuracy over raw arm strength and hitting tight windows. He's an effective passer off play action and he can deliver while on the run. He is definitely raw, but he has traits to mold. [player_tooltip player_id="94726" first="Nick" last="Hansen"], 6’1" 195 lbs- Milwaukee Marquette Nick has become a popular name in my articles lately. He has shown up in a couple of Top Performers articles this season and he was one of the newest additions to the rankings. He makes this article now as one of the best available QBs in the state. Hansen brings a lot to the table as a dual threat QB. On the ground he slices through defenses with his burst and vision to find openings. When he drops back to pass he has the arm strength to be a threat at all three levels of the field. He is at his best when he is throwing darts in the short to intermediate range. When he has to go off script he can make plays outside of the pocket with his arm or legs. His touch really catches my eyes whenever I watch his film too. He can lay it out perfectly for his receiver or drop it right over the coverage of an underneath defender. Needs more attention for sure in recruitment. [player_tooltip player_id="94734" first="Ronald" last="Sackett"], 6’3" 195 lbs- River Falls Ronald was a new addition to the rankings during our update making it my first time watching his film. Right away when you turn on the film you see one of the best builds for the position that Wisconsin has to offer. He doesn't have game breaking athleticism, but he does have enough to maneuver and roll out to buy time before hurting the defense downfield. As a pocket passer, Sackett does a great job of getting the ball out of his hands quickly. That quick release transforms into some nice arm strength and zip on the ball to hit receivers in tight quarters. He does most of his work in the quick passing game and his pinpoint accuracy shines there as the windows are tighter and the timing needs to be spot on. Sackett is starting to collect some D3 interest. I'm interested to see how much more he gets before he makes his decision. It is well deserved. [player_tooltip player_id="30841" first="Nate" last="McLean"], 6’2" 190 lbs- Menomonee Falls The first live game I attended this year was to watch McLean and Menomonee Falls vs Brookfield Central. It didn't disappoint and neither did the Menomonee Falls offense led by McLean. They continued that success throughout the season thanks to the consistency of Nate. When you click on the senior season highlights you see a QB that can make plays off script and can sling it downfield. Even if his feet aren't set or he is on the run. I could feel how poised he was during that week one matchup as they went back and forth on the scoreboard. The moment never got too big. He just kept making play after play. The experience of being a three year starter shined through. That poise is evident in the film too as he doesn't let rushers that are closing in on him effect him. He stands tall and delivers the ball. McLean is a gamer.
