2022/2023 Linebackers Under The Radar

These linebackers were under the radar following the 2020 season and have the potential to make a big splash in 2021. [player_tooltip player_id="58784" first="Caiden" last="Davis"] South Charleston High School 2022 Caiden had the chance to only play 3 games before the season was over but definitely proved he is one of the top linebackers in the state. He showed great athleticism for being a bigger linebacker and great instincts for finding the ball and making a play. He showed great anticipation and shows the ability to get downhill fast and close in on the runner or stuff the gap. Look for Caiden to have an even bigger senior year with only playing 3 games last year and start to have college coaches noticing with his play.   [player_tooltip player_id="58840" first="Caleb" last="Whitt"] Chapmanville High School 2023 Caleb was only able to play half a regular schedule but showed great potential in his junior season. He shows the ability to fight off blocks consistently and make tackles in the backfield using his speed and length to fight off blockers. He also shows the ability to rush the passer and make plays in the backfield as well and should look to have a great junior season for Chapmanville and have colleges start to notice his play.   [player_tooltip player_id="58801" first="Nate" last="Shelek"] Wheeling Park High School 2022 Nate was an exception I added to this list because he played safety in his junior year. After watching his tape he reminded me of a linebacker and I feel would be successful if he was moved down. He shows great ball skills and the ability to get downhill fast and lay a big hit on the runner. He finishes tackles and shows the ability to run sideline to sideline. He's not afraid of contact and shows he can fight off blocks as well. Look for Nate to have a big season in his senior year and make a name for himself throughout the state.   [player_tooltip player_id="58841" first="Germaine" last="Lewis"] Fairmont Senior High School 2023 Germaine saw limited action on both sides of the ball but showed great potential when he was on the field. He showed his big play ability when running the ball and and showed that he can get downhill and make a play on the run on defense. He shows great speed and the explosiveness to be successful on both sides of the ball. Look for Germaine to have a big junior season next year and start to have colleges on his radar.   [player_tooltip player_id="58842" first="Jeremiah" last="Riffle"] Hurricane High School 2023 Jeremiah has been on a tear on both sides of the ball. He shows great size and explosiveness for being a bigger linebacker. He can make any play on the field and uses his athleticism when fighting off blocks and making tackles for loss in the backfield. He shows great coverage skills and shows the ability to guard both running backs and wide receivers in coverage. Look for Jeremiah to continue having great success and keep making a name for himself within the state and have coaches knocking on his door.
