Continue ReadingThe recruiting attitude about the state of Arkansas in recent years has started to change. Talent has always been present and accounted but more universities are starting to hit the Natural State on a more consistent basis. One division one university that has placed more of an emphasis on recruiting the state of Arkansas is the University of Kansas. We look briefly at the recruits that Kansas has signed from Arkansas and the recruits Kansas is still recruiting.
With the class of 2021 having just finished the early signing period commitment, it would be wise to start with the players signed from Arkansas. Defensive end Deldrick Withers Deldrick Withers 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Joe T. Robinson | 2021 State AR is a player on the defensive side of the ball that will have an opportunity to earn some playing time. Meanwhile, Mason Brotherton Mason Brotherton 6'4" | 235 lbs | TE Mena | 2021 State AR at the tight end position is another player out of Arkansas that could be an impact player for the Jayhawks.
Shifting focus to the class of 2022, the Jayhawks have continued to dip into Arkansas to secure the commitments of several talented players. Austin Myers Austin Myers 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Vilonia | 2022 State AR out of Vilonia has the potential to be the Jayhawks quarterback of the future. Myers is a quarterback that has a strong arm and would give Kansas some consistency at the quarterback position. Myers needs an offensive line to keep his jersey clean and the commitment of offensive linemen Brock Burns Brock Burns 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Ozark | 2022 State AR out Ozark is a recruiting coup for the rebuilding Jayhawks.
The bottom line that other schools can take away from the work Kansas is doing in Arkansas is that plenty of talent is available in Arkansas. Kansas offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon already knows that plenty of talent exists at the smaller schools and the large ones in Arkansas. The talent is available in Arkansas, scouts simply just need to do the homework and start recruiting the entire state. The Arkansas talent is not going to stay under the radar for long.
