Yes, the Panthers have placed some players into the NCAA Division-I ranks the last few years under coach Marc Morris. However, those big signing classes have been few and far between. About the only thing that prevented that from happening so far this year was the restrictions placed upon college coaches.
However, the athletes are there.
CALEB GODREE, OL
The three-year starter has a few small-college offers already on his plate, and had he participated in the camp circuit over the summer, he’s probably have more. Godfree is a straight-ahead blocker who could adjust to all five spots on a college line.
CONNOR MEEHAN, DB
Meehan’s astronomical GPA has already opened some recruiting doors (University of Rochester and Furman, for example). He’s also pretty good on the field, too. He had 61 tackles and a pick this fall.
LATRELL PITTS, LB
Arguably the most consistent defensive presence for the Panthers the last three years, Pitts is a tackling machine – he had 80 stops in 2020 alone. He’s also an absolute gym rat and won’t have to make many changes in a college weight program.
KYLE WATKINS, QB/WR
Watkins blew up this year after switching to quarterback. And as his recent off from The Citadel attests, colleges are going to give him an opportunity to stay behind center. His fall-back plan of moving back to receiver only adds to his chances.
ADAM JANACK, DB
Janack has a nose for the football. Yes, he caught 24 passes for 376 yards and five scores this fall, but his ability to track the football on defense has paid dividends, too. He finished his high school career with 21 interceptions.
