Battle for QB1
Heading into the season the Bulldogs have a QB battle going on for the starting spot. This battle is between James Budford Jr (Junior), Owen Novak (Junior), and Nolan Gimza (Senior). This is the biggest factor heading into this upcoming season of who is going to be their starting QB. Talking with Coach Sheehan, all three players are going to get an equal shot and whoever wins the battle will get the job. Whoever wins this job is going to be commanding the deadly offense that is loaded with talent that flies under the radar.
High Ceilings
These two players have very high ceilings and need to keep an eye on them as they develop further. They are Michael Maura and Donnie Burton who are both from the class of 2023. According to Coach Sheehan, Maura is a special type of talent who given his development can become a star player in the conference if this continues. For Burton, Sheehan believes he can be the best player in the conference. This isn’t coming out of thin air, if you watch his film you’ll see his playmaking abilities and his raw speed in action. Both players have time to develop further, keep them on your radar, and don’t be surprised if they mature into star players.
Deadly Backfield Trio
Heading into the season the Bulldogs will have a running back duo consisting of Jadon Wilson, Jaxson Grier, and Donnie Burton. Wilson is more of the ground and pound runner who runs through defenders as well as playing through contact while Grier and Burton have more of the speed and quick acceleration. All three hit the holes hard and are N/S runners fighting for every inch they can get. All three have the ability to catch out of the backfield making them multi-dimensional in the Bulldog’s offensive attack. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this backfield rush for over 2,000 yards total for the season given that they are able to play a full schedule.
Tayo Idowu Tayo Idowu 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Richards | 2022 State IL
Idowu plays OLB & MLB for Richard’s and he is a force to be reckoned with. When speaking with Coach Sheehan he told me that Idowu got bigger and stronger in the offseason. Idowu was already a physical player who runs downhill to fill holes in run support, with this added weight/strength he’s going to be dominant. He’s apart of the talented class of 2022 that Richards has as there’s a bright future for this program.

They are optimistic about this upcoming season and can’t wait to get back on the field. Thank you again Coach Sheehan for taking the time to talk about your team and I wish you the best in your season.
