Ohio is fortunate to have a number of very good offensive linemen in the 2021 class. The seven best have the combination of size, strength, agility, and toughness division one colleges look for in the men up front. They all are solid at both run and pass blocking along with being outstanding finishers and each are going on to major universities. [player_tooltip player_id="34184" first="Ben" last="Christman"] 6’6” 298 Richfield Revere Ben is one of the most athletic big men in the country who is an equally effective blocker whether run blocking or in pass protection. A very good knee bender for his size, Christman plays with great leverage coming out of his stance and delivers a devastating first punch. He is able to pick up defenders in space when blocking downfield and maintain balance and body control. Ben is going to Ohio State and will probably play guard for the Buckeyes. [player_tooltip player_id="34200" first="David" last="Wohlabaugh"] 6’6” 280 Stow Walsh Jesuit They should nickname this guy “The Mauler” because that’s just what he does to defensive ends across from him. Dave is quick out of his stance, shoots his hands into the defender’s frame, and drives them into the turf or out in the parking lot. A great finisher who is also impressive when pulling and leading to the second level. Wohlabaugh is equally effective as a pass protector who sets quickly and keeps inside position on the pass rusher. Dave will play his college football at Kentucky. [player_tooltip player_id="34220" first="Terrance" last="Rankl"] 6’5” 275 Massillon Washington Terrance should fit in well as a pass protector at the D1 level being he is quick into his set and has a powerful first strike with his hands. He is especially impressive in gap scheme blocking by destroying the defensive tackle on the down block then working to the linebacker level. Once he gets the opponent in his grasps, he torques them to the ground to finish. Played both ways in high school but will play on the offensive line for the University of Pittsburgh. [player_tooltip player_id="34204" first="Mao" last="Glynn"] 6’4” 295 Cincinnati Walnut Hills Mao really uses his size to his advantage in locking on to the opponent and driving them off the line of scrimmage. He is a punishing and tenacious blocker who is powerful in his legs and core. Great finisher who sustains till whistle blows. Mao is quick out of his stance when pulling and trapping, logging, or leading to the next level. He is just as sold in pass protection and will play for the University of Cincinnati at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="34216" first="Paul" last="Rodriguez"] 6’6” 300 Mason Rodriguez is the master of the reach block with his footwork, body position, and hand placement. He keeps leverage on the defender and works his hips upfield. Paul is just as aggressive when base blocking, just needs to drop his pad level a little bit. He shows equally good footwork and positioning when pass blocking. Paul is versatile enough to play guard or tackle at the next level. Rodriguez will play for the Kentucky Wildcats next year. [player_tooltip player_id="34201" first="Tomas" last="Rimac"] 6’6” 280 Brunswick As a sophomore, Tomas was an impressive defensive end who was quick off the ball with great agility and change of direction. He has grown into a massive offensive tackle but has retained the same athletic skills. Strong in the upper body, Tomas owns the point of attack by getting movement and sustaining the block. Very impressive on the move when pulling on the counter. Tomas will take his skills to the University of West Virginia. [player_tooltip player_id="34230" first="Kevin" last="Toth"] 6’6” 260 Hudson Toth uses his length to his advantage in pass protection by keeping pass rushers off the frame of his body. He is fluid in his movement keeping position his body between the rusher and his quarterback. Kevin is as good of zone blocker as there is by keeping his shoulders and hips square while working up to the second level. Toth will put on more bulk when he gets to Rutgers where he will play his college football.
