More than any other position on the defensive side of the football, linebackers are in the center of the action run and pass. They must have good read and reaction skills and be able to keep leverage on the football throughout the play whether at the inside or outside linebacker position. The following seven linebackers are the best in the 2021 class for Ohio.

Reid committed to Ohio State last season and he has all the tools to be an outstanding inside linebacker for the Buckeyes. Tougher than nails, he is a punishing tackler that explodes through the ball carrier and drives his legs after contact. Reid closes quickly on a downhill course attacking the ball carrier. He is an instinctive middle backer that reads and reacts instantly to the offensive play and blocking scheme.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="34194" first="Devon" last="Williams"] 6’2” 215 Dublin Coffman</strong>
Williams is very athletic and could inside or outside linebacker. Especially good in space, he keeps tempo on the ball then takes good angles in closing. Devon uses his hands well in shedding blocks and protecting his feet. A good pass defender, he can cover the hook to curl and curl to flat like a seasoned veteran. He will have a chance to see the field early on cover units at the collegiate level. Devon is headed to Minnesota to play for the Golden Gophers.
<strong>Aiden Hubbard 6’4” 225 Cleveland St. Ignatius</strong>
Aiden is a thick outside linebacker that is fast off the edge when blitzing. He is very active and mobile often making plays from the backside taking proper pursuit angles and giving great effort. Aiden has a quick inside pass rush move and often comes completely clean from getting blocked by offensive tackles. Hubbard is versatile enough to play any of the linebacking positions. Aiden is committed to play his college football in the Big Ten for Northwestern.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="34224" first="Cameron" last="Junior"] 6’0” 200 Middletown</strong>
Junior is a fierce hitting linebacker for the Middies. His agility, quickness, and athleticism allow him to cover tight ends and slot receivers man-to-man. Cameron loves contact and flies to the ball carrier to get in on the action. He could play the strong safety in cover three defensive schemes. Junior should be another one of those guys who has a chance to be a difference maker on special teams. Junior is just going a few miles down the road to play for Cincinnati.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="34231" first="Bam" last="Booker"] 6’3” 225 Cincinnati Winton Woods</strong>
A tall physical specimen of an outside linebacker, Booker has the frame to add weight and grow into a defensive end for the University of Maryland, his school of choice. He is a raw talent that displays good speed and quickness and is a real disruptive force coming off the edge. His long arms are an asset in keeping offensive blockers off his body and in rushing the passer. Bam is strong in the upper body and can shed bigger offensive linemen with ease.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="34236" first="Carston" last="Marshall"] 6’3” 195 Wadsworth</strong>
Carston is a very solid player against both the run and the pass and should fit in well at the will linebacker in college. He has good balance and body control and strikes and disengages from blockers without losing ground. Marshall demonstrates the ability to play both man and zone coverage. He is not a big hitter as a linebacker but is a sure tackler in space and keeps leverage on the football. Carston will play for Iowa State University next fall.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="34219" first="Damon" last="Ollison"] II 6’0” 215 Akron Hoban</strong>
Damon will play for the University of Toledo and the Rockets are getting an athlete that has speed and quickness. Ollison has can flip his hips and change directions on a dime. He can kick it into a different gear when closing on the football or when in pursuit. He is an instinctive linebacker that sniffs out the screen and reacts without hesitation, closing on the receiver instantly. Ollison can cover the field from sideline to sideline.
