These prospects had huge Junior season’s and either currently hold college offers or are looking for their first. There are tons of California prospects hoping for one last football season to not only play the game they love, but to showcase their talents and hard work during the long off-season for college coaching staff’s. This list is in no particular oder and will specifically breakdown the film of the following prospects.
LB Emiliano Murillo, Yuba City HS
One of the most punishing run defenders in the San Joaquin Section, Murillo helped anchor a stout defense in 2019 and proved why he is a college level caliber prospect. On tape, Murillo is a very put together prospect with natural strength and a powerful lower body. A very high IQ player, he has natural quick play recognition and plays physical and with good pad level in the box while taking on blockers. He is a balanced high motor defender that can also play in space and has coverage abilities in the flats. Very aggressive/strong tackler that will make an immediate impact at the next level.
DL Mason Barbour, Templeton HS
Playing for a small school power, Barbour is an under the radar prospect that has all the physical tools to be a dominant 4-3 DE at the next level with a high floor. Still raw at the position, the Templeton Eagles product displays a natural ability to convert speed to power around the edge and wins with natural bend and a high motor/use of hands at the point of attack. Still developing as a pass rusher, the 6’4″ prospect flashes good closing speed for his size and is a strong open field tackler that can also play the run/violently shed blocks.
DL Fale Mosley, Menlo-Atherton HS
One of the most dominating interior defenders in the Bay Area, Mosley has immense power and is a technician in the trenches. On tape, the 2021 prospect is a dominating run defender with two-gap ability and wins with pad level and strike/hand placement at the point of attack. Athletic and flexible enough to rush the passer and win with counter moves, Mosley has a few pass rush moves in his tool-box and will only continue to develop as a pass rusher as he continues on through college.
RB James Weaver, Shasta HS
The Northern Section athlete is one of the most explosive and versatile overall prospects in the region. Carrying an impressive 4.5 GPA, the 2021 prospect is a one cut runner with a strong initial burst and sneaky third level speed. A patient back that gets North and South in a hurry, Weaver runs with natural forward lean and can break arm/ankle tackles with his good balance and a strong combination of foot speed and body control. Also able to catch the ball out of the backfield from all angles, Weaver is a versatile offensive weapon that plays with good physicality and toughness and will make an immediate impact at the college level. He currently holds an offer from Linfield University.
