A lot has happened, minus an actual season, since posting the initial rankings back in mid-summer. Have a look at the state’s top athletes ranked #1-25 for the class of 2022, and who has been offered thus far. Not having a season is definitely unfortunate from a recruiting standpoint, but this could change quickly with the modified spring regular season ahead. Per usual rankings are based on who projects highest at the collegiate level. 1.[player_tooltip player_id="28831" first="Trejon" last="Williams"] 6-1 195 Safety 4* Jefferson (OFFERS: USC, Penn St, Cal, Ariz St, Washington, Oregon St, Colorado, Wash St, Kansas, Indiana, Nevada) As referenced previously Trejon projects as one of the top DB’s ever to play football in Oregon and a future Sunday guy. His overall body control is something that can’t be taught. With continued progression he will project as one of the top players in America for his class. 2.[player_tooltip player_id="28832" first="Lamar" last="Washington"] 6-4 210 LB 4* Jefferson (OFFERS: UCLA, USC, Oregon St, Nebraska, Cal, Kansas, Nevada, Utah St) The #1 ranked basketball player in the state. It’s rare to see a kid with his size play the LB spot with that type of fluidity and overall athleticism. If he chooses to go the football route he will project as one of the top players in the country. 3.[player_tooltip player_id="28833" first="Darrius" last="Clemons"] 6-3 195 WR 4* Westview (OFFERS: Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn St, Oregon, Arizona St Michigan St, Stanford, Arizona, Nebraska, Oregon St, Utah, Kansas St, Boise St, Northwestern) Clemons is one of the most decorated recruits to come out of the state in sometime. He made the move to Utah to play at Pleasant Grove HS, after the OSAA implemented draconian measures to table the season. On the year he caught 37 passes for 760 yards and 9 TDs, averaging over 20 yards per catch. 4.[player_tooltip player_id="28840" first="Kaden" last="Ludwick"] 6-5 230 OLB Clackamas Once Ludwick lands his first couple offers they will come quickly. He is hands down the most underrated kid in the state as of right now. Kaden brings everything big time D1s are looking for to the table, including legit size, speed and D1 genes. He’s the real deal. 5.[player_tooltip player_id="28839" first="Jordan" last="King"] 6-3 205 ATH/WR 3* Central Catholic (OFFERS: Central Michigan) King was an all-conference kid on both sides of the football as a Sophomore, helping the Rams to a state title. When all is said and done he could be a 20+ offer D1 athlete. He has that type of potential being able to play 3-4 different positions at the highest level. 6.[player_tooltip player_id="28837" first="Brian" last="Mannion"] 6-3 185 QB 3* Mountainside I’m a big advocate of Mannion. Another kid who I could for see being one of the most offered QB’s in the nation before he is done. He stepped up as a Sophomore in the last five games, throwing 14 TD’s & 2INTs, while helping the youngest and fastest rising team in Oregon to the state quarterfinals. 7.[player_tooltip player_id="28834" first="Aaron" last="Jones"] 5-10 180 ATH/Slot 3* Westview (OFFERS: BYU, Oregon St, Nevada, Utah St) When in space one of the most dangerous players on the west coast. A lot of credit to him and Clemons for making the move Utah to play. Jones was hurt as a Sophomore after a breakout freshman season on Varsity. This past year he accounted for 589 all-purpose yards and 3 TDs 8.[player_tooltip player_id="28835" first="Emar’rion" last="Winston"] 6-3 220 OLB 4* Central Catholic (COMMITTED: Oregon) Everyone is aware as Emar’rion comes from one of the most talented football families in the region. That said as there are a still a lot of question marks as to what position he will play at the next level and how that translates in the PAC 12. 9.[player_tooltip player_id="28836" first="Keenan" last="Speer-Johnson"] 6-3 190 WR 3* Tigard (OFFERS: Kentucky, Utah St, Nevada) One of the fastest rising recruits in the West coming from a talented football family with NFL and D1 genes. KSJ started as a sophomore, but with [player_tooltip player_id="28700" first="Drew" last="Carter"] early enrolling at Colorado, it brings up legit questions as to who will be getting him the ball. He needs a minimum of 8-10 touches per game if the Tigers are going to be successful. 10.[player_tooltip player_id="28841" first="Dondrae" last="Fair"] 6-0 180 QB 3* Jefferson (OFFERS: Indiana, William & Mary) A lot of credit to the Hoosiers for getting on him early. He has the ability to change the game with his feet but also is an outstanding passer. Look for Fair to thrive with a very talented group around him. 11.[player_tooltip player_id="28842" first="Jacob" last="Newell"] 6-5 220 TE/DE 3* Thurston (OFFERS: New Mexico) One of the fastest rising recruits in the West. Newell has had a successful off season, and brings a lot to the table with his size and ability to play on both sides of the football. 12.[player_tooltip player_id="28838" first="Miles" last="Williams"] 6-0 170 WR 3* Clackamas (OFFERS: Oregon St, Nevada) Williams received a few early offers and had a nice Sophomore year catching 29 passes for 444 yards and 4 TDs. The spring season in Oregon will be telling to see if he continues on with his early success. 13.[player_tooltip player_id="28846" first="Cole" last="Prusia"] 6-3 185 WR/DB Tualatin Prusia earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a Sophomore at CB, in the state’s toughest conference, helping to show off his overall athleticism and versatility as a big DB. He had an outstanding off season at WR, and is a very appealing recruit, being able to play multiple spots on the field. 14.Mikey Gibson 6-2 185 QB Canby Get used to the name as you will hear a lot about this kid as an Oregon 5A POY candidate in the years to come. In just 5 starts he accounted for 1,652 yards (410 rushing) and 13 TDs/3 INTs, hitting on 61% of his passes. A future D1 kid. 15.[player_tooltip player_id="28845" first="Royce" last="Fasel"] 6-0 200 WLB/RB Glencoe Fasel was the only Sophomore in Oregon to earn all-state honors at the 6A level. Royce earned 1st team all-conference accolades on both sides of the football, and played with a demeanor and confidence rarely seen at such a young age. With continued progression he’s a D1 kid at some level. 16.[player_tooltip player_id="28843" first="Malik" last="Ross"] 6-0 190 ATH Tualatin One of the most exciting athletes in Oregon who is a threat to go to the house any time he has the ball in his hands. Ross has film that speaks for itself, while him and Prusia will be one of the top 1-2 combo’s in the entire NW. 17.[player_tooltip player_id="28858" first="Dylan" last="Layne"] 6-2 195 Safety Lake Oswego Layne has a stock that continues to rise. His overall physicality and intelligence on and off the field (4.1 GPA) speak to his game. Dylan earned all-conference accolades as a Sophomore and will be a TRL defensive POY candidate in the years to come. 18.[player_tooltip player_id="28878" first="Max" last="Von Arx"] 6-4 180 WR Grant Not a lot of people know about him yet but they will. One of the most versatile athletes in Oregon (basketball) who earned 2nd team All PIL honors offensively as a Sophomore. Has the size and potential to be a D1 recruit moving forward. 19. [player_tooltip player_id="28844" first="Brooks" last="Ferguson"] 6-5 205 QB West Salem Brooks started as a freshman at Central HS before making the transfer to West. He is the son of Western Oregon head football coach Arne Ferguson. Coming from a football family the three sport athlete brings a lot to the table, also playing the Safety spot and showing off his overall athleticism. 20.[player_tooltip player_id="28902" first="Dom" last="Montiel"] 6-3 185 QB Marshfield Had an outstanding sophomore year throwing for 1,934 yards and 14 TDs, while backing that up with a very impressive off season. A lot of credit to Montiel getting out on the camp circuit (National Preps) and showing what he can do against the state’s top competition. 21.[player_tooltip player_id="28852" first="Lucas" last="Tuski"] 5-10 190 RB Marist One of the more intriguing prospects in Oregon, earning 2nd team all-state honors as a Sophomore at the 4A level, while carrying the ball 184 times for 1,206 yards and 24 TDs. He has power, toughness, and good speed. He will need to show this on the camp circuit against elite competition. 22.[player_tooltip player_id="28864" first="Zac" last="Waible"] 6-3 205 WLB Lakeridge Waible had a monster sophomore campaign making 63 total tackles and earning all-conference accolades in the brutally tough TRL. His 465-pound squat speaks to some of his testing and overall potential. 23. [player_tooltip player_id="28855" first="Spencer" last="McKelligon"] 6-3 210 Jesuit Mckelligon didn’t get a ton of Varsity time as a Sophomore on a deep Crusaders roster, but his size and overall athleticism are telling. Expect him to be one of the top defensive players in the Metro this season and a future POY candidate. 24. [player_tooltip player_id="28860" first="Zachery" last="Grisham"] 6-0 195 Safety Central Catholic Grisham excelled as a Sophomore on last year’s state title team, averaging 7.3 yards per carry with a couple TDs. Even with his success on offense he will project more on the defensive side of the ball. 25.Nate Vidlak 6-0 180 ATH 3* Hidden Valley Everyone knows the name with his brother [player_tooltip player_id="28702" first="Sam" last="Vidlak"] signing with Oregon State. Nate had a phenomenal season himself, catching 42 passes for 604 yards and 9 TDs. All this while splitting receptions with standout WR [player_tooltip player_id="28715" first="Jeremiah" last="Noga"]. 25.[player_tooltip player_id="28868" first="Kyron" last="Albright"] 6-0 180 CB/ATH Beaverton Most folks don’t know about Albright yet but they will soon. Expect the Beavers to exploit his talents especially if future D1 standout WR/Safety [player_tooltip player_id="28705" first="Trent" last="Walker"] has to move to the QB position. 25.[player_tooltip player_id="28859" first="Trenton" last="Hughes"] 6-0 190 ATH Hood River Hughes racked up 1st team all-conference honors as a Sophomore and followed that up nicely playing for EForce on the 7v7 circuit. He should be considered one of the best in Oregon at the 5A level.
