While the 2020-2021 Oregon High School Football season still sits on the edge of uncertainty, the recruiting process for these athletes doesn’t stop. There is still work to be done and a possible season to be had in the early spring of 2021. If we do happen to get a high school season in Oregon, it will be telling of the players who took this time during the pandemic to get better, and those who did not. Because of this, there is also a little uncertainty as to whose stock will rise on the recruiting front. With previous seasons in mind, let’s take a look at the possible names that will emerge in the coming year at the receiving position for the 2022 class.
[player_tooltip player_id="28838" first="Miles" last="Williams"], WR, Jr, 6ft 0in, 170lbs, Clackamas High School (Clackamas, OR)
Williams is a guy who can line up on the outside or in the slot. The Clackamas Cavaliers throw him a lot of deep balls, which is a testament to his ability to get separation from his defender. He is also a threat over the middle with a strong ability to pick up yards after the catch. Either way, this kid will get the ball at its highest point and make the adjustments needed to come down with it. Averaging over 15 yards a reception his sophomore year, [player_tooltip player_id="28838" first="Miles" last="Williams"] is someone to keep an eye on moving forward. He currently has offers from University of Nevada, Reno and Oregon State University.

[player_tooltip player_id="28836" first="Keenan" last="Speer-Johnson"], WR, Jr, 6ft 2in, 170lbs, Tigard High School (Tigard, OR)
The first thing that stands out about Speer-Johnson as a player is his hands. His ability to catch a contested ball is something that will get a lot of college coaches excited. If the pass is close, Keenan will likely find a way to haul it in. He also has great leaping ability, which makes him an even more favorable target down near the endzone. Keenan currently has three offers from the University of Kentucky, University of Nevada, Reno, and Utah State University. He also has some interest from the University of Oregon, where his father is the Director Of High School Relations.
[player_tooltip player_id="28839" first="Jordan" last="King"], ATH, Jr, 6ft 3in, 206lbs, Central Catholic High School (Portland, OR)
The position ATH fits [player_tooltip player_id="28839" first="Jordan" last="King"] perfectly, as he truly is an “athlete.” With a lot of defensive success as well, Jordan is a big body with very solid hands that make him useful in short yardage situations. He catches the ball, follows his blockers, and gets up field. This young man still has a lot to play for, however his current accomplishments include a State Championship from the 2019 season, where he contributed with an 8 yard touchdown reception to help solidify the win. He currently has an offer from Central Michigan University.

Nate Vidlak, ATH, Jr, 6ft 0in, 188 lbs, Hidden Valley High School (Grants Pass, OR)
Vidlak is an open field specialist. His ability to find breaks in the coverage and make guys miss is what led to a lot of his success during his sophomore year. He plays on the outside and in the slot position, which has given him a lot of opportunities to catch short passes over the middle and turn them into big gains. He also can run the offense at the QB position, which adds even more versatility to his game. Nate has no offers as of yet, but as a current 3-star recruit, he is definitely capable of raising his stock in the coming season. His brother, [player_tooltip player_id="28702" first="Sam" last="Vidlak"], a QB in the 2021 class, recently committed to Oregon State University.

[player_tooltip player_id="28842" first="Jacob" last="Newell"], TE, Jr, 6ft 5in, 220 lbs, Thurston High School (Springfield OR)
Another big body who plays well over the middle, [player_tooltip player_id="28842" first="Jacob" last="Newell"] is someone you’d rather line up next to, than opposite of.

He has surprising speed for his size and will not shy away from contact. His hard hitting ability on the defensive end pays tribute to that. With Newell’s height and frame, he is a big threat in short yardage situations especially near the goal line, where he boxes out opponents and makes for an easy target. He currently only has one offer from the University of New Mexico, but will definitely be a name to look out for in the 2022 Oregon class.
