It's never too early to start scouting the young bucks, and with 2 weeks remaining in this irregular 2020 Wisconsin high school football season PrepRedzoneWI has kept our ears to the ground and have picked up on and noticed some exciting class of 2024 freshman prospects! When I was a little 14-15 year old freshman in high school there was no way I was ready to play varsity football, so the fact that some of these kids are starting for their programs is something special in itself. It also means that these dudes are serious college football prospects, so why not let our subscribers get a head-start on knowing who some of standout freshman of this season are right now! Scroll below for my top prospects, some more recruits to watch, and as much information and analysis I could include. Thanks for reading!
Top-6
Adrian Thomas (Nicolet) WR/DB. 6’4, 180 lbs. @7adrianthomas - Has recorded 9 catches for 115 yards and a TD plus 15 tackles, a FR, and an INT defensively on varsity as both a DB and WR. I'm a big fan of what I see on film and I personally think he has the potential to be Power-5 football player one day. He's incredibly long and is fast and physical in a way you don't often see from freshman. His length and speed also help him as a WR and DB, as his ball skills are impressive. He also has pretty good footwork and gets out of his breaks well, and he hits like an 18 year old senior. There's a ton to like going forward and I would put some money on Thomas being a big-time 2024 recruit in the state of Wisconsin. First 3 Games 2020
Cade Palkowski (Oak Creek) QB. @c_palkowski1 - I got to see the outstanding Oak Creek Knight gunslinger play live twice this season as the varsity QB, and he's a really exciting player who can scramble with the best of them, and his presence in the pocket and ability to throw on the run and improvise when a play breaks down is something special. He's got some room to grow still, but his upper and especially lower body are super solid and he's a load to bring down when he takes off with his legs. I like what I've seen from him as a passer when he does do it, but he needs to be a little more patient and trust his arm a little more. I think the arm strength is there, though. Overall he's one of the most athletic players on the field when he suits up on Friday's and has a really high ceiling as a prospect. vs. Indian Trail vs. Tremper vs. Bradford
Karter Butt (Edgar) RB. 5’9, 195 lbs. @ButtKarter - Has rushed 23 times for 123 yards and a TD. Defensively he's put up 21 tackles, 4 TFLs, and a FR. Edgar is also 7-0! Going to be a name to remember going forward.
Terrance Shelton (Franklin) RB. 5’11, 160 lbs. I got to watch the freshman RB compete for the now 5-1 Sabers last Friday against Oak Creek, and #30 got a big chance to shine due to a ton of COVID cases affecting the status of some Franklin players ability to play. He's got some serious speed and uses his vision well to hit holes hard and gash defenses for big gains. He was fun to watch and has a bright future ahead of him. This season he has 29 rushes for 115 yards and 2 TDs.
Drew Braam (Oak Creek) 6’1, 200 lbs. @DrewBraam - Has posted 20 tackles and 2 TFLs as a freshman LB on a swarming Knights defense. Great sized freshman MLB who flows to the ball well and is strong at the point of contact. Does a good job of reading blocking schemes for his age. Lot of good football in front of this kid. vs. Franklin vs. Freedom vs. Tremper vs. Bradford vs. Indian Trail
Jacques Brooks (Franklin) WR. 5’9, 170 lbs. Similiar to classmate Shelton on the Franklin squad, freshman WR Jacques Brooks got a bigger role last Friday vs. Oak Creek and made the most of it, catching a few impressive receptions and showing off some YAC ability. He made a couple freshman errors, but the talent and the athleticism to play at the varsity level is already super evident.
