Continue ReadingThe Wisconsin football prep stars really went off this past week! We have a new record high for entrances into this weekly article highlighting the top performances from across the state on the offensive of the ball. We have 16 student athletes that dominated their matchups this week and put out film that perfectly illustrates the player that they are. Ahead, we will go through each one of the 16 performances to find out who the player is, what their final stat line from the night was, and what their film tells us about each player. Let’s not waste any time. We have a lot to cover!
Matteo Bonnin Matteo Bonnin 6'3" | 210 lbs | WR Hudson | 2021 State WI , Senior WR/RB- Hudson
Stat Line: 6 Carries, 95 Rush Yards, 1 TD, 1 Reception, 40 Receiving Yards, 1 TD, 1 KOR TD, 276 All Purpose Yards. All in one half of play.
Matteo is a star. He’s a D1 player without a doubt. He has freakish athleticism paired with a 6’3″ 210 lbs frame. Matteo is so fun to watch. It looks like everyone around him is in slow motion because nobody is close to his level, and that is saying a lot as he faces some of the toughest competition in the state and dominates. The versatility is off the charts. He could be a receiver or running back at the next level. I think his best fit would be receiver where he can use that athleticism in space while also using his contact balance and power to help pick up YAC. The most intriguing part about Bonnin is that he still looks like he has a ton of untapped potential. As he continues to build his technique to go with his insane athleticism he is going to get better and better and be an impact player at the next level. Check out what he did in just the first half last week. Matteo’s Week 6
Logan Arrowood, Junior QB- Cedar Grove
Stat Line: 15/23, 218 Passing Yards, 3 TDs
Arrowood is an up and coming prospect you are going to want to keep an eye on. He checks off the size box with his 6’2″ 190 lbs frame. His arm should be attracting a lot of interest from the next level at the end of this season. In this week’s film he showed off impressive touch and accuracy to all three levels of the field. There were a few plays that really jumped out too including a pass that he threw for about 40 air yards off his back foot with pressure in his face. The ball placement couldn’t have been more accurate. Based off the air yards and the velocity on his passes he has sufficient arm strength for the next level already and I expect it to continue to improve. Add in a dual threat ability and you get a quickly rising junior QB that college coaches need to be aware of. Logan’s Week 6
Parker Prahl, Junior QB- Iola-Scandinavia
Stat Line: 3/3 98 Passing Yards, 2 Passing TDs, 10 Carries, 142 Rush Yards, 3 Rushing TDs
Standing at 6’4″ 180 lbs, Parker Prahl is an intriguing prospect on the football field as well as the basketball court. On the field, Parker plays QB, but I label him more as an athlete based off this week’s film. They called his number in the run game quite a bit as he ran several read options where he was able to use his vision to find running lanes. Once he tucks it and runs he does have sufficient speed to take it the distance. On the few dropbacks in his film this week, Parker showed off some nice ball placement and he did a great job of buying time and keeping his eyes down the field. Prahl is someone I will be watching now that I have him firmly on my radar to see how he plays next season and to go back and see what else he did this season. Parker’s Week 6
Najeh Mitchell Najeh Mitchell 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH West De Pere | 2023 State WI , Sophomore RB- West De Pere
Stat Line: 19 Carries, 311 Rushing Yards, 4 TDs
I have been a fan of Najeh since this summer when we were creating our initial rankings. He isn’t the biggest back at this point, but he has plenty of time for that to develop. What he is is an electric ball carrier. Najeh can go from 0 to 100 real quick. The burst and elusiveness he plays with jumps off the tape. I love how decisive he was on some of his carries too in this game. He saw the hole, stuck his foot in the ground, and hit it. He doesn’t bring out the jukes and moves until he has to. A lot of the time he won with that decisiveness and pure speed. I can’t wait to watch his career. I have been waiting for this breakout game. He is going to be a dude to watch next season. Najeh’s Week 6
Max Grand Max Grand 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Ellsworth | 2022 State WI , Junior RB- Ellsworth
Stat Line: 11 Carries, 245 Rushing Yards, 3 TDs
Max is a special talent. There is a reason he was our #1 RB in our initial 2022 rankings here at Prep Redzone Wisconsin. He has a compact frame at 5’10″ 195 lbs and he uses it to handle a large workload in the games he played in. Max isn’t a one trick RB either. He can run between the tackles with impressive vision and change of direction so strong that he could make a guy miss inside of a phone booth. On the outside, Max has the speed to easily pull away for big plays. I can’t wait to see his development over the next offseason because he is a beast in the weight room in the offseason. I haven’t found a better RB in his class in the state. Max’s Highlights
Jackson Trudgeon, Junior WR- Edgewood
Stat Line: 7 Receptions, 149 Receiving Yards, 2 TDs. Bonus: 7 Solo Tackles
Jackson made his debut in this article last week with a strong performance. He is back again thanks to more of the same of what we saw last week. I love players that don’t settle with winning with their natural talent. Instead they go deeper and develop good technique. Jackson could win with his 6’1″ frame and long arms, but instead he has developed his route running into his best strength. It’s when you add in that size and game changing play speed and you get these impressive outings. I expect Jackson to be a popular student athlete after the season and into the spring as colleges switch to recruiting the next senior class. Jackson’s Week 6 Highlights
Jake Rockweiler Jake Rockweiler 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Elkhorn | 2021 State WI , Senior RB- Elkhorn
Stat Line: 17 Carries, 241 Rushing Yards, 3 TDs
Jake spent the summer gathering a lot of D3 interest from across the state. The race for his services is going to be hot because since then he has come out and had a breakout senior season toting the rock for Elkhorn. It wouldn’t shock me to see a few D2 programs “enter the chat”. If I have said it once I have said it a dozen times. I love Jake’s contact balance. He takes shots, but somehow just keeps on going. Then he pairs it with very nice burst through the gap and the speed to pull away in the open and you get an RB that can really help an offense at the next level. I have become a big fan of his film over the season. Jake’s Week 6 Highlights
Will DeGoey Will DeGoey 6'8" | 355 lbs | OL Kaukauna | 2021 State WI , Senior OL- Kaukauna
Stat Line: Part of Offensive Line that paved the way to 3 Rushing TDs, and protected the QB while he threw 2 TDs
You aren’t going to find a bigger frame than that of the 6’8″ 355 lbs Will DeGoey Will DeGoey 6'8" | 355 lbs | OL Kaukauna | 2021 State WI . The kid is huge, and the best part is he is able to consistently control it. It seems at times he almost overextend on a block, but he maintains his body control just in time to maintain his block. I also love the way that Will finishes his blocks. He is either giving them a good throw at the whistle or he is plowing them into the ground. He definitely will fit well in a power blocking scene where he can get his hands on defensive linemen and drive them off the ball and finish them. Check out his 2020 season highlights! Will’s 2020 Highlights
Sam Peiffer, Junior WR- Cedar Grove
Stat Line: 8 Receptions, 113 Receiving Yards, 3 TDs. Bonus: Pick Six
Sam is a reliable, possession receiver. He isn’t going to shock with you his athletic traits. Instead it is with how well he does at being exactly where he is supposed to be on every rep. One trait did jump off the film this week and it was on his second TD. The ball ended up going to his outside shoulder when he was looking for it over his inside shoulder. Without panicking, he was able to quickly adjust his body by flipping his head to the other side without breaking stride or getting off balance and hauled in the catch with ease. Sam is super consistent and reliable. I believe I mentioned that about him last week, but here it is showing up again. That emphasizes the consistency. Sam’s Week 6
Christian Crump, Junior WR- Kenosha Bradford
Stat Line: 4 Receptions, 110 Receiving Yards, 2 TDs
Attention college coaches, I got your field stretcher right here. Put him in the slot or out wide and watch him take the top off the defense. Pop in the film from this past week and watch the junior receiver beat defenders with a combination of route running and pure speed. Speaking of speed, Christian’s is next level. You will be hard pressed to find a defender that could catch him from behind. This is going to be a major player to watch. He should get a ton of attention after the season ends. If you haven’t become acquainted with his film yet, make sure you check him out! Crump’s Week 6
Logan Fitzhugh Logan Fitzhugh 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Kaukauna | 2021 State WI , Senior WR- Kaukauna
Stat Line: 3 Receptions, 56 Receiving Yards, 2 TDs
Sheesh this kid knows how to get separation. On his first catch he found the soft spot in coverage and then finished it for his first score of the game. On his second catch of the game, and his second TD, they decided not to cover him as he found himself alone in the endzone for the simple pitch and catch. His third catch showed off how well he can use his 6’3″ frame to high point the ball and then showed off his strong hands as he held onto it to the ground through contact. I am a big fan of how quick and choppy his feet are. At 6’3″ you would initially expect a long strider, but that’s not Logan. He uses those quick feet to run sharp routes and start and stop quickly. Check him out! Logan’s Week 6
Joe Ollman, Junior RB- Homestead
Stat Line: 231 All Purpose Yards, 2 TDs
Joe is a monster. He has a prototypical frame at 6’1″ 200 lbs and the athleticism to match of an RB that has potential to play at a higher level in college. Based off this game, I would expect him to be a big D2 and above target this time next year in his senior season. When he ran between the tackles defenders didn’t want to step in front of him. I love how smooth he is through the gaps between the tackles. He picks his spots early in the play and goes. No wasted time. He has some of the best blend of power, athleticism, contact balance, and versatility in his class and maybe the state at this point. I have become a bigger and bigger fan of Joe’s throughout the season. Familiarize yourself with his game because he is very talented. Joe’s Week 6
Malachi Munoz Malachi Munoz 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Sheboygan Falls | 2021 State WI , Senior OL- Sheboygan Falls
Stat Line: Part of an Offensive Line that paved the way to 220 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs, and 1 TD through the air
This was Sheboygan Falls’ biggest game of the season and they turned to their big dawgs up front to lead the way. That unit is led by Munoz at the guard position. I love the physicality that Malachi plays with. It is a very controlled chaos feel. He goes 100 mph, but he consistently hits his target. The athleticism he has to offer should make him a very enticing recruit for many schools. There are a few clips of him double teaming interior defensive linemen and he gets great movement. Add in the fact that he is an effective puller and you get one of the state’s better interior offensive linemen available. Malachi’s Week 6
Colin Girdaukas, Junior WR- Sheboygan Lutheran
Stat Line: 8 Receptions, 254 Receiving Yards, 4 TDs
The weekly stat lines are laughable at this point with Colin. He dominates the level of play he is at and he makes the players around him look like they are stuck in mud as he goes flying by them in the open field. This week they went to him a ton on some jet sweep tip passes that got the ball to him quickly and let him show off his vision, ability to set up blocks, and speed. Colin played a lot of this game as almost more of an RB with the way they manufactured his touches. It was fun to see and a nice change to show off more of his traits that he has to offer. If we had a full 9 game season he would probably be threatening some career yardage records this time next season, but with the virus we might not see that. He is still a crazy productive receiver with a lot to offer a team. Colin’s Week 6
Keany Parks, Sophomore RB- Kenosha Bradford
Stat Line: 13 Carries, 175 Rushing Yards, 2 TDs, 2 Receptions, 37 Receiving Yards, 1 TD
From week one I have been the biggest fan of Parks’ game. He’s electric with the ball in his hands and can get it in his hands on the ground or through the air. On the ground this week, Keany went crazy. His burst through the line of scrimmage led to multiple long runs where he went untouched. The trait that really impressed me this week is how hard he ran on a few of his carries. He has always won with speed, but this week he ran through a lot of arm tackles and started to show off some nice contact balance. Add in a bonus interception on defense and you have an impressive, young athlete who can become an intriguing recruit if he continues to work and develop.
Nick Ferge Nick Ferge 6'5" | 190 lbs | WR Marquette University | 2022 State WI , Junior WR- Marquette University HS
Stat Line: 5 Receptions, 150 Receiving Yards, 1 TD
Nick is a gigantic receiver. He comes in at 6’5″ 185 lbs. Long term he might even be in line to transition to TE. When he gets out in the open field he is a smooth, long strider that can cover a lot of ground. Obviously with a frame like that it plays a huge role in the way he creates separation. It isn’t so much separation as it is impossible for the defender to get around him. Don’t let that take away from his route running. For being such a long strider he actually carries some nice speed through his less severe breaks like posts and slants. This is actually my first exposure to Nick, and I am glad to be tipped off to him. Nick’s Week 6
