The quarterback is usually the one with the most scrutiny second to the head coach. He is usually the first player people look at when a team is winning and also the first when a team is loosing. He is usually the leader of the team, the most gifted and talented, smartest player on the field. Quarterbacks not only know their own duty on the field but that of every other player on field. They are tasked with key decision making and have the balances of winning or losing the game in their hands.
Here are a few signal callers who can torch defenses through the air and some who can run over opponents or do both. All of these quarterbacks listed are top notch talent that Texas 4A Football has to offer. Some of who you will be seeing playing on Saturdays at next level in college. Learn about them and what their teams can expect to face Friday night.
So sit back, relax, grab some pop corn ,Texas High School Football playoffs are just heating up.
1) QB Landon Howell – Decatur, TX | Senior
Landon is a 6’3 quarterback and he can put some big numbers and make some big plays on defenses through the air and on the ground. He is not the fastest on the team but he can put the jets on and blaze down the sideline while wimpy tacklers try to swat for his ankles as he blows past them. He has great footwork in the pocket and has a nice drop back pass, he transfers his weight well leading to a laser thrown ball to a receiver. He has a very quick release and can gash defenders playing zone or man coverage. Friday night he faces a tuff opponent in a 10-1 Canyon Eagles who where 2nd in 4A division I standings. A defense who has 17 interceptions, 30 sacks on the season and a stout MLB on the Eagles defense who accounts for 10 of the sacks on the defense. The signal caller for the Canyon Defense MLB #32 Kam Reagan will be a true test for Landon, as he leads his team in tackles and sacks ( 109 total tackles and 10 sacks). This game should prove to be an interesting match up. Landon currently holds an offer from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

2) QB Cameron Ford – Chapel Hill
Cameron looks like a man amongst boys on the playing field. The mere fact this quarterback has not received any Division one scholarships at this point amazes me. I could watch tape all day on the QB that’s how entertaining his play is. He is a lefty quarterback and can throw on the run as well as he can sit back in the pocket and deliverer the ball down field with accuracy. The ability he has to make defenders miss when he scrambles is second to none. He can leave anyone shoeless with his ability to change directions so clearly. Ford has amazing numbers on the season. You can tell he has put in a lot of work in the offseason to have the kind of season he has had. Lindale(11-2) is his next opponent. The defense of Lindale does not look very intimidating on paper and from what I have seen on film. So look for Ford , he just might have himself a career high day as he faces the possibility of this being the last game of his high school career.

It's going to be an East Texas Collison Course in Tyler!
@chillbulldogs beat Stafford 40-14, and will now get ready to face the @Lindale_FB at 7 p.m. at Rose Stadium on Black Friday in the regional quarterfinals. @FeverScoreboard @KETK @LindaleAthleti1 https://t.co/Y2RZV6ipV0— Garrett Sanders (@CowboyTD) November 22, 2020
3)QB Andrew Body Andrew Body 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Roy Miller | 2021 TX – Miller (Corpus Christi, TX) | Senior
Arguably one of the best quarterback the school has ever seen. Body will beat anyone through the air and or the ground. He has tremendous speed and can put some moves on defenders. He is the true definition of a Dual – Threat quarterback. He can throw the ball deep down the field and he can place the ball in different spots(i.e. back-shoulder, low and away, etc.). His footwork is not the greatest but that can always be improved on with good coaching. Last game body put on a show, racking up plenty of yards through the air and points on the score board. This game against the Boerne Greyhounds should be a game to watch as the Greyhounds are 1st place in their district with a record of 9-2. Boerne is stacked on defense with a lot of defenders that fly to the ball and make a lot of tackles. It should be a interesting battle as Miller faces Boerne in the next round. Committed to Texas Southern.

4) QB Camden Chesney – Springtown, TX | Senior
6’4 Quarterback Camden Chesney has had a phenomenal career as for the Springtown Porcupines. He is your proto-typical pocket passer who will pick defenses apart with his arm. He has a rocket for a arm and can launch the ball down field almost effortlessly. He isn’t a runner but he can torch defenses through the air. Even if for some reason Camden does not make it to the next level , his career as a quarterback for the porcupines is one to honor. He still has one more test in front of him and his high school football career against the Dumas Demons who are 11-1 on the season.
Previous Weeks Game Stats: 18 completions / 23 attempts / 303 yards passing / 4 TD’s

5) Rashawn Galloway – Boerne, TX | Junior
Rashawn is a two year varsity starter and a two sport player who plays baseball as well and has a put up some amazing numbers so far for the Boerne Jaguars. Galloway could be considered as a dual – threat quarterback but his speed really wont blow many people away. However, he can defiantly make plays with his legs and throw on the run. Boerne is facing the Miller Buccaneers and this game is going to be filled with some great quarterback play on both teams so look for a shootout in Fridays nights game and a lot of points up on the scoreboard. Galloway is currently committed to playing baseball for Texas State University.
Previous Weeks Game Stats: 26 completions / 40 attempts / 296 yards passing / 3 TDs / 1 INT
