Quarterback Position Is Improving

Quarterback Position Is Improving
Once again in 2020, the quarterback position had some surprises in the state of Florida. With prospects such as Elias Allen (Rockledge – PICTURED), Ryan Browne (Sarasota Riverview), CJ Denmark (St. Petersburg Catholic), Collin Hurst (Davie Western) and Tampa Bay Tech’s David Wright, you saw plenty of head-turners.

For the longest time, college coaches felt that the many of the quarterbacks produced in the state of Florida are athletes and end up playing another position at the next level. While it is true that the Sunshine State is loaded with tremendous athletes who often end up playing receiver or in the defensive secondary, things have started to change. The athletes are honing their skills as quarterbacks and are playing the position in college and even in the NFL. Even though this season had plenty of twists and turns, there were quite a few quarterback prospects who had the chance to showcase all of their skills. Once again – as we do throughout the course of a year – we bring you under-the-radar prospects. Here are five quarterbacks who put themselves on the map. 2021 - Elias Allen, Rockledge. Talk about a spark. This is a quality football talent that helped the Raiders throughout the season – with his amazing accuracy and leadership at the position. In a win this year against Viera, he went 13-of-19 for 242 yards and two touchdowns as well had eight carries for 118 yards and a rushing touchdown. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/9729021/Elias-Allen 2022 - Ryan Browne, Sarasota Riverview. This junior was efficient and effective for the Rams this season, showcasing his skills at the position – and giving those who rate the position a look at what he can do. In a huge win over Palmetto, he went 10-of-22 for 152 yards and two touchdowns. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/14958352/Ryan-Browne 2022 – C.J. Denmark, St. Petersburg Catholic. Another of those gifted young prospects who had the opportunity to display his skills – with his team playing more than others and having tape. In a win over Indian Rocks Christian, he went 12-of-16 for 321 yards and tossed three touchdowns while running for one more score in a win. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11371861/Cornelius-Denmark-J 2023 - Collin Hurst, Western. If college coaches don’t already know about this young man, they are frankly not doing their job. This the blueprint for a student/athlete, who gets it done in the classroom - also is a difference maker on the field – with his ability to run the ball and use his accurate and strong arm. In a win over Plantation, the sophomore went 19-of-28 for 243 yards and two touchdowns plus had 32 yards rushing and one more touchdown. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/12810780/Collin-Hurst 2021 - David Wright, Tampa Bay Tech. Because college coaches are not as in touch as they usually are – with this pandemic putting everyone in a spin cycle – talented young men like this is trying to grab the attention of college coaches. By having impressive performances – like the one he had against Wiregrass Ranch, when he threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns, his film will certainly be gold with college recruiters. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11276860/David-Wright You Can Contact Larry Blustein with prospect or team information at: Foridakids1@aol.com.
