There were once again a lot of offensive performances this past week worth highlighting but there was also a defensive performance and a special teams performance as the game of football involves all free aspects of the game. Check out these top performances from week 13 of Central Texas high school football. 1. Jason Gaines (SR-WR) - Bowie High School (Austin, TX) Gaines had himself a game on Thursday when Bowie defeated San Marcos 42-28. Gaines finished the night with seven receptions for 140 yards and two touchdowns. This has been the best performance for Gaines recently as he had not reached 100 receiving yards since the game against Del Valle on Oct. 16, when he had six receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Currently, he has 49 receptions for 815 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. 2. Isaiah Quinton-Jackson (SR-RB) - East View High School (Georgetown, TX) Quinton-Jackson was part of the main reason the Patriots defeated Pflugerville Connally 62-6 on Friday. He had 246 yards and four touchdowns on the night. Overall, East View's running game was stellar as Quinton-Jackson's teammate, senior running back Emarion Brooks, had 160 yards and three touchdowns himself. Both of these backs made the Cougars' night a rough one they will not soon forget. 3. L.J. Butler (SR-RB) - Wagner High School (San Antonio, TX) Butler is making another appearance on this list as he rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns in Wagner's, 49-0, victory over South San Antonio on Friday. There was no stopping Wagner that night, but Butler made sure to stand out from the rest of the crowd with his three rushing touchdowns. On the season, Butler is rushing for 780 yards and 17 touchdowns and has scored in every game listed on the MaxPreps website. 4. Armando Chavez (FR-K) - Mart High School (Mart, TX) It is not often a kicker or punter makes the Game Ball list, but Chavez's performance is an exception, as he managed to make six out of seven field goals for a total of 18 points in Mart's, 48-12, victory over Lovelady in a 2A playoff game. Doing this as a freshman, in a playoff setting, shows the talent behind Chavez, especially ending the night while contributing 18 points to the 48 total. Mart is undefeated this season and Chavez will have more chances to contribute when the Panthers take on West Sabine at 6 p.m. on Friday at Crockett High School. 5. Trey Seward (SR-RB) - Liberty Hill High School (Liberty Hill, TX) Seward also had an excellent night alongside the Liberty Hill Panthers as they defeated Navarro 84-0. Seward contributed with 146 yards and four touchdowns in four carries. This meaning each time he touched the ball he scored a touchdown and managed to rush for 100 yards in just those four carries. He averaged 36.5 yards per carry that night which included a 61-yard dash for a touchdown. 6. Ryker Purdy (JR-RB) - New Braunfels High School (New Braunfels, TX) Although New Braunfels lost in a close contest to Samuel Clemens, 45-44 on Friday, Purdy still had a game worth remembering when he rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns. Overall, the New Braunfels rushing game was what kept the Unicorns in the game but it just was not enough. Still, Purdy has had a season with 942 yards and 12 touchdowns. He still has one more year to go and has shown his potential to be an even more elite back his senior year. 7. [player_tooltip player_id="60845" first="Re’Shaun" last="Sanford"] II (SO-RB) - Harker Heights High School (Harker Heights, TX) The Knights ran away with the game against Killeen, defeating the Kangaroos 52-23, but Sanford's performance, 180 yards and three touchdowns, is worth noting considering that was where a large part of the points came from, according to MaxPreps. Sanford has had a pretty good season with 861 yards and four touchdowns, but as he is just a sophomore, this could just be a preview for what is to come out of Harker Heights. Simply put, the Knights are going to have an elite rushing attack for years to come. 8. Maurice Reed (SR-RB) - Belton High School (Belton, TX) Belton defeated Ellison 56-33 on Friday and while all of this was a team effort as always, it is important to shoutout Reed's performance as well. He rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns in the win which contributed to a night when the Tigers rushed for 275 yards and six touchdowns as a team. Overall, the offense for Belton could not be stopped as the senior quarterback Ruben Jimenez was also slinging the ball with 248 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. 10. Nick Morris (SR-LB) - Westlake High School (Austin, TX) The Westlake defense proved dominant once again when the Chaparrals shutout Austin 62-0 on Friday. The defense still has not allowed any team to score more than seven points this season. One of the leaders of this eltie defense is Morris, who had three sacks in the game which brings his total for the season to 12. Morris has recorded a sack in almost every game but has recorded six sacks in the past two games against Bowie and Austin. He also recorded three sacks against Del Valle earlier in the season. Morris is a monster and is making his name known in his last year with Westlake.
