Entering into November, the Indians are 6-1, and have beaten quality competition along the way. To start the season, East Coweta beat Starr’s Mill 21-20 in OT. This was a sign of success for the majority of the season, as the Indians have only lost 1 game since then, and that was against Norcross High School, who has had an unbelievable season themselves. This season Indians have beaten the likes of New Manchester, Meadowcreek, Northgate, Collins Hill, and Pebblebrook. It is very likely that the team can finish the season with only 1 loss, as they will go on to play Campbell this week, followed by a struggling McEarchern team. The most challenging game of the season for the Indians will come in the last week of the season, as they will take on rival high school, Newnan, who happens to be 7-0 so far this season.
One of the biggest components to East Coweta’s success has been their offensive play. This season, the Indians have had multiple games in which they have scored 30 or more points. These points come from a powerful offense who has scored 10 times through the air, with Daniel Schoch as the team’s QB, and 20 times on the ground. Junior prospect Jayden Bolton leads the team with over 1,000 yards so far this season, with 10 TD’s. Trey Bowles has also had a ton of success on the ground as he has 8 total TD’s himself. In the passing game, players such as Amariyon Moss, Fate Simmons, Tyrell Fudge, and Evan Prosser have all had success as well. Out of this group, Amariyon Moss leads the group with 4 TD’s and over 400 yards so far this season.
On defense, the Indians have also been stout for a majority of the season. They have held most teams to limited points. The most points they have allowed in one game this season was 28 points, in their loss to the Norcross Blue Devils. Since then, the defense has continued to rise to the occasion, especially within their second OT win of the season, which came against Collins Hill. Plenty of players, including Willie Rice, Dylan Spelios, Ryan Barber, Christian Richardson, and Chase Lewis have been flying around the football, and making critical tackles and stops. Most impressively, the team has totaled over 17 sacks, with Spelios and Barber each having 4. Along with this, the defense has been causing plenty of turnovers, as they have been causing fumbles, and intercepting passes as well. Needless to say, as this season continues, if the offense continues to put up their end of the bargon, they can count on making it decently far in the playoffs based off of their supporting cast on the opposite side of the ball.
