Sixteen teams remain in the Class 3A Kansas High School Playoffs. As the playoffs move to the Regional Round of 16 here is a look at four of the eight match-ups and key players in each game.
<strong>Marysville (4-4) at SE Saline (8-0)</strong>
The Southeast of Saline Trojans, one of three undefeated teams left in Class 3A, face Marysville in the Round of 16. Senior quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35430" first="Jaxson" last="Gebhardt"]</strong> guides the offense for the Trojans. He has passed for 969 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing for 794 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Bulldogs quarterback <strong>Ayden Price</strong> is also having a solid season. The Marysville senior has produced over 1,000 yards of total offense and has accounted for 12 offensive scores.
<strong>Frontenac (3-4) at Burlington (8-1)</strong>
Burlington has been rolling up wins but will face a tough defensive team from Frontenac. Wildcat running back <strong>Gavin Price</strong> has rushed for 793 yards and caught 23 balls for 394 yards. He has found the endzone 15 times. Defensively the senior has 30 tackles and three interceptions. Frontenac is led by junior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35560" first="Landon" last="Dean"]</strong> on defense. Dean is considered on the best defensive players in the Class of 2022 and is being recruited by multiple DI programs.
<strong>Perry-Lecompton (8-1) at Hayden (8-1)</strong>
<strong>Thadd Metcalfe</strong> is coming off a 124-yard rushing game in a playoff-opening victory against Rock Creek. The Perry-Lecompton senior is a nice two-way player. He has 55 total tackles as a linebacker and has rushed for 815 yards and 17 touchdowns. Hayden has multiple weapons on offense, two of those are major prospects <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="49773" first="Desmond" last="Purnell"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35470" first="Jayden" last="Rainer"]</strong>.
<strong>Scott Community (6-3) at Riley County (7-1)</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35599" first="Trey" last="Harmison"]</strong> is Riley County’s primary offensive weapon. Harmison, a junior, has 25 receptions for 607 yards and has rushed for 397 yards for the Falcons. He has 15 total touchdowns including seven on the ground. Linebacker <strong>Zak Zeller</strong> leads the Riley County defense in tackles with 89. He has two fumble recoveries and three sacks.
The other remaining undefeated teams in 3A are Andale(8-0) and Cheney (9-0). Andale will host Clearwater, while Cheney plays at home against Wichita Collegiate in the Regional Round.
