[player_tooltip player_id="38488" first="AJ" last="Green"] - Senior Running Back - Union (Hosts Enid Fri.)
We wrote about Union senior running back [player_tooltip player_id="38488" first="AJ" last="Green"] in last week’s Practice Report on Union. Green and Union have won their last four games after an 0-4 start. Green is a big reason behind their success over the last month. Union has moved to a run-oriented offense and Green has flourished in this new look. He’s also been splitting carries with two other running backs during their winning streak. That’s scary news for the rest of 6A-D1 because that means Green will have fresh legs as he enters the playoffs. The Arkansas commit is hungry for a deep playoff run.
[player_tooltip player_id="51037" first="Austin" last="Havens"] - Sophomore Quarterback - Owasso (Hosts Edmond Memorial Fri.)
The only sophomore on this list is Owasso quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="51037" first="Austin" last="Havens"]. Owasso comes in as defending champ and the favorite to once again win it all. Because of that, the Rams have several players that would be good candidates here. But if the Rams are going to repeat and win their third title in four years, they’ll need their young signal caller to continue to be solid. Havens is a young talent that’s surrounded by seniors who know what it takes to win a gold ball. He’s been a breakout player this fall and is certainly going to be a player to watch this month.
[player_tooltip player_id="38714" first="Brayden" last="Dutton"] - Junior Quarterback - Yukon (Hosts Mustang Fri.)
Yukon has earned their spot back in the playoffs and the Millers are excited for their shot, after narrowly missing out last fall. Leading the way for Yukon has been their senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38714" first="Brayden" last="Dutton"]. In the flexbone offense, the quarterback makes everything happen and Dutton has been the commander of this Yukon flexbone attack. Not only has he been able to lead this offense, he’s a very underrated athlete as well. He’s put up some big plays this fall and the one time we saw him in person, we were very impressed with the way he ran this Yukon offense.
[player_tooltip player_id="38527" first="Dayton" last="Wolfe"] - Senior Quarterback - Westmoore (AT Southmoore Fri.)
Westmoore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38527" first="Dayton" last="Wolfe"] has been one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in Oklahoma over the last several years. Since his breakout season as a sophomore, Wolfe has been an absolute playmaker for the Jags. He’s put up a lot of numbers and Westmoore has won a lot of games. However, the one thing that has been missing during his time is a deep playoff run. The Jaguars and Wolfe have once again put up big numbers this fall and are looking to go out with a bang. They’ll start their playoff journey against rival Southmoore on Friday night.
[player_tooltip player_id="38516" first="Emaud" last="Triplett"] - Senior Linebacker - Owasso (Hosts Edmond Memorial Fri.)
The second Owasso Ram on this list is a more notable one. Senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="38516" first="Emaud" last="Triplett"] is one of the best players in Oklahoma and has been just that for the Rams this fall. Coming into the season, most fans knew that Triplett would be one of the top players on this defense, but he’s taken his leadership to another level and become a complete player. The combination of Triplett and [player_tooltip player_id="45655" first="Brenden" last="Dye"] at the linebacker positions has made Owasso one of the best defenses among the larger schools in Oklahoma. Triplett expects to have a very busy and productive month.
[player_tooltip player_id="38555" first="Gabe" last="Trevillison"] - Senior Running Back - Norman North (Hosts Norman Fri.)
We wrote a lot about Norman North’s [player_tooltip player_id="38555" first="Gabe" last="Trevillison"] in last week’s Uncommitted Spotlight. Not only is he one of the top available prospects in Oklahoma’s 2021 class, he’s Norman North’s home run threat at the running back position. It’s well noted how Trevillison hasn’t had the best of luck staying healthy. But over the last month, he appears to be 100 percent and has shown what he can do when he gets that opportunity. Trevillison and the T’Wolves are certainly going to be excited to open up the playoffs. They get a shot at rival Norman after their annual rivalry meeting in the regular season was cancelled.
[player_tooltip player_id="48281" first="Grant" last="Lohr"] - Senior Running Back/Defensive Back - Jenks (Hosts Moore Fri.)
The first of two Jenks Trojans on this list and similar to our next player, here’s another guy who plays both sides of the ball exceptionally well for the Trojans. The biggest Jenks question coming into 2020 was who would replace Will Cox at running back. We got that answer early on in a player that is very similar to what Cox was last season. [player_tooltip player_id="48281" first="Grant" last="Lohr"] has absolutely taken the ball and ran with it, literally and figuratively speaking. Similar to Cox last year, Lohr has become a breakout star for the Trojans, making an impact on both sides of the ball. He’s looking to lead Jenks back to the title game.
[player_tooltip player_id="38514" first="Jayden" last="Patrick"] - Senior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Jenks (Hosts Moore Fri.)
We knew coming into the season that Jenks senior [player_tooltip player_id="38514" first="Jayden" last="Patrick"] would be one of the top players in the class but he’s exceeded expectations. We knew Patrick would be one of the top corners in Oklahoma, but this season, he’s emerged as one of the top wide receivers as well. It was clear very early on this season that Patrick would be the home run threat in the Jenks passing attack this fall. He’s become one of the top two-way players in the state. Now he looks to take his game to another level and help lead Jenks to a state championship in the next month.
[player_tooltip player_id="38672" first="Maurion" last="Horn"] - Junior Running Back - Broken Arrow (Hosts Putnam City Fri.)
Last season, Broken Arrow saw a young sophomore emerge in [player_tooltip player_id="38672" first="Maurion" last="Horn"] in their defensive backfield. Horn quickly became one of the higher regarded recruits in the current junior class. Horn had to focus on defense while the Tigers dealt with injuries in their secondary. This season, Horn has been able to showcase his talents on the offensive side of the ball and there aren’t many negatives when he has the ball in his hands. Horn and senior [player_tooltip player_id="38550" first="Sanchez" last="Banks"] make up arguably the best running back duo in the state of Oklahoma. Horn is a highlight waiting every time he touches the ball.
[player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"] - Junior Wide Receiver - Edmond Santa Fe (Hosts Edmond North Fri.)
The only other junior on the list has to be a familiar name at this point in his career. Edmond Santa Fe wide receiver and Oklahoma commit [player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"] is widely considered not only one of the top receivers in Oklahoma but in the country. Ever since breaking out as a freshman, Shettron has been one of the best receivers in Oklahoma. This year, he’s continued to grow at that position, and he’s added the ability to make big plays in the return game. Shettron is a big reason why the Wolves are coming into the playoffs with their second straight district championship.
