Colts Neck edged Freehold Borough in a 36-35 thriller on Saturday, Oct. 10. There were some memorable performances in this one, as Colts Neck improved to 2-0 while Freehold Borough fell to 1-1. Freehold Borough raced out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead. The team combined for 694 yards in a meeting that didn’t lack offense and points. Let’s take a look at who shined in the game.
<strong> Joe Barsky, Colts Neck: </strong>Barsky, a senior, had a heavy workload but that didn’t deter his productivity. He finished with 185 rushing yards on 39 carries with three touchdowns, scoring on runs of 2, 3 and 5 yards. His TD run followed by a two-point conversion run with 5:05 remaining gave Colts Neck the 36-35 lead.
<strong>Sha’Kim Shuler, Freehold Borough: </strong>Shuler, Freehold Borough’s senior quarterback, threw for two touchdowns and ran for 160 yards on six carries and two rushing scores, on runs of 63 and 90 yards.
<strong>Kamore Gill, Freehold Borough: </strong>Gill ran for 65 yards on seven carries and scored on a 53-yard run for Freehold Borough. He also caught a 64-yard TD pass from Shuler.
<strong>Yah-Sin Calhoun, Freehold Borough: </strong>Calhoun had an interception and made three receptions for 73 yards and had a long TD reception early for Freehold Borough.
<strong>Matt Scully, Colts Neck: </strong>Scully had two interceptions and made six catches for 75 yards for Colts Neck.
<strong>Tom Fallon, Colts Neck: </strong>Fallon threw for a pair of touchdowns and also ran for 74 yards on 14 carries.
<strong>John Runfolo, Colts Neck: </strong>Runfolo caught a pair of touchdowns from Fallon. He hauled in a 33-yard TD and then caught a 20-yard throw for a score later on in the game.
