They all have adequate speed, good hands and are well above-average when it comes to route running. But they also have something else in common.
They all plan to play regularly against Clemson in college.
As inadvertent as that tie to the school that dubbed itself “Wide Receiver U” may be, it stands to reason that all of the four players would love to put on a show against one of the nation’s top teams over the last four seasons (the breadth of their high-school careers). None of the four pulled an offer from the Tigers, but that doesn’t mean they might not be showing out at Death Valley one day soon.
O’Mega Blake O’Mega Blake 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR South Pointe | 2021 State SC , SOUTH POINTE (SOUTH CAROLINA)
To think that there are three higher-ranked players at the position in this state goes to show just how deep South Carolina is this year. The 6-foot-3, 190 pounder earned more than 30 scholarship offers and the Gamecocks were the one that stuck. That wasn’t surprising, as USC has pulled in some big receivers from around the Palmetto State.
Ahmari Huggins-Bruce Ahmari Huggins-Bruce 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Dillon | 2021 State SC , DILLON (LOUISVILLE)
Another 30-plus offer hauler, Huggins-Bruce is a touchdown machine on a team that has produced plenty of those types of players under Jackie Hayes’s record-setting career. At 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds, the speedster plays much bigger. Since the start of his sophomore season, he’s basically reached the end zone once for every five touches.
JOSH BURRELL, BLYTHEWOOD (FLORIDA STATE)
Like the rest of the bunch, Burrell verbally committed prior to the start of his senior season, knowing full well that his 6-foot-2, 212-pound frame and production in such a high-profile Midlands region could open more doors this fall. But in Florida State, Burrell found a program that would continue to mold him up the line for years to come.
J.J. JONES, MYRTLE BEACH (NORTH CAROLINA)
Give Jones the ball on the edge and watch the separation happen with just a few steps. Jones, the best of the bunch in our rankings, has the ability to catch anything close to him and then use his long strides to leave defenders wondering what just happened. Jones was high on North Carolina’s potential, and the feeling is mutual.
