Last Friday night Edmond Santa Fe took on Broken Arrow in a heated top 5 matchup in 6A. It was a hard-fought game that came down to the last few drives and the Wolves were able to come out with a 35-28 victory. Here are Santa Fe’s top performers from the game.

Either I’m a good luck charm for the Santa Fe running backs or they have turned a corner and found a groove. The latter is more likely, but I can dream. Similar to their game I attended against Lawton, both running backs for the Wolves had excellent performances in this game against Broken Arrow. Hyche had an absurd 30 carries on the night for 174 yards and a touchdown, while Snoddy received 13 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown. Whenever Santa Fe needed to kill some time throughout this game when they took the lead, Hyche and Snoddy stepped up to the plate in a big way, averaging over 6.5 yards per carry combined. It is much easier for an offense to get in a rhythm and sustain drives whenever you have a duo of running backs who can get you a first down every two carries.
[player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"] - Wide Receiver - Class of 2022
The recent Oklahoma commit was not needed much in this game due to the success the Wolves were experiencing in the run game, but when they threw it his way he shined as always. On the night Talyn had 6 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown, which included a 42-yard TD in the 3rd quarter. Shettron remains the top WR in his class and perhaps in the entire state. I can’t wait to watch this young man once playoffs come and every game becomes a big-time game because he is certainly a big-time player.
[player_tooltip player_id="38505" first="Angelo" last="Rankin Jr."] - Athlete - Class of 2021
Just when I thought Broken Arrow was doing a good job of containing Santa Fe’s versatile and explosive playmaker, Angelo Rankin proved me otherwise. With 2 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, Rankin took a kick return 80 plus yards to the house to give the Wolves the lead back right after Broken Arrow had tied it. Other than the return he did not have an explosive night in the box score, but Angelo has shown to me once again that he has to be accounted for at all times when he is on the field because he is a legit threat to score anytime he touches the ball.
[player_tooltip player_id="38489" first="Collin" last="Oliver"] and [player_tooltip player_id="38512" first="James" last="Burnett"] - Linebacker - Clas of 2021
Though Broken Arrow had a few big plays on the ground and [player_tooltip player_id="38672" first="Maurion" last="Horn"] gashed the Santa Fe defense at times, [player_tooltip player_id="38489" first="Collin" last="Oliver"] and [player_tooltip player_id="38512" first="James" last="Burnett"] did a fantastic job of sealing the edge and disrupting BA’s offense. It seemed like nearly every play ended with one of these two if not both of them making the tackle. [player_tooltip player_id="38538" first="Jake" last="Raines"] struggled to pass the ball or get in any kind of rhythm all night and a lot of the credit for that belongs to these two men. Between the two of them, there were 5 TFLs, 3 QB hurries, and 1 sack, they were simply all over the field all night.
