Rapid City Area Rankings: Running Backs

Rapid City Area Rankings: Running Backs

RAPID CITY-- We take Interstate 90 west till we hit Rapid City with this trip. Who are the best running backs within one hour of Western South Dakota’s biggest city? Take a look at seven names that make our "Rapid City Area Rankings" for the running back position! #8: [player_tooltip player_id="56373" first="Tyler" last="Clark"], Douglas, (2021) Clark was one I was expecting more speed for a prospect that advertises a 4.5 40 on Hudl. Clark is a solid runner between the tackles but isn’t one you will see break the big one at the next level. Clark is a very undersized talent but is solid on his carries in the 4-10 yard range. Jr. Tape #7: Brextin Garza, Belle Fourche (2021) Garza is a well-rounded runner for Belle Fourche that has a little pep in his step when the gas is on the floor. Garza is a fearless running back that’s not afraid in traffic and will be one to lower his shoulder on a linebacker (watch around the 30-second mark on his film. Tape vs. RC Douglas #6: [player_tooltip player_id="56316" first="Marcus" last="Harkless"], Hot Springs (2021) Harkless is a bull runner that also plays linebacker. The film’s first minute shows how much strength this kid has when the football is in his hands. Harkless is the definition of a power runner and one that plays a lot stronger than his 200-pound frame, which my guess would have been around 230 if I didn’t look at measurables ahead of time. Junior Tape #5: Chance Harsh, Custer (2022) Call Harsh an RB/FB combo out of Custer. Harsh is a player with multiple skill sets running the ball and blocking as well, which is what I like about his game. He doesn’t have the fastest downhill speed, which is why I have him in the #4 spot. Watching Harsh, you can tell this kid puts every ounce of energy he has on every play for the Wildcats. Look to see Harsh on the next update of our 2022 rankings. Jr. Tape #4: [player_tooltip player_id="56370" first="Bridger" last="Amiotte"], Wall (2021) I am a big fan of the way Amiotte runs the football between the tackles. The films show a kid that is very tough to tackle. Has rock-solid burst when he gets some open field and a nice size to go along with it. Also, very strong on the ball’s defensive side might be his "next level" based on his skill set. Jr. Tape #3: [player_tooltip player_id="56462" first="Uriah" last="Glynn"], Rapid City Stevens (2022) Glynn is very quick out the gates as his running ability is quite strong and in the return game. Glynn needs to develop a little bit better footwork now to improve his movement between the tackles. Once he does that, put him in the #1 spot in the city rankings next season coming out of Raider country. So. Tape #2: [player_tooltip player_id="56321" first="Daniel" last="Sedlacek"] Jr, Custer (2021) The Wildcats by far have the best tandem of running backs in this part of South Dakota and it’s not really close. What I like most is Sedlacek’s burst and has some quirk in his footwork. A player that just gets a boost of speed whenever he sees space in between the tackles. Daniel has over 900 yards and counting this season for the Wildcats and I think is an even better next level linebacker prospect. First 3 Tape #1: [player_tooltip player_id="56301" first="Ryan" last="Wojcik"], St. Thomas More (2021) Wojcik is a very consistent back on multiple levels and is one of the better pass-catching backs in South Dakota. Wojcik’s is an uphill runner with a lot of power in his step to make a play. The biggest frame on this list goes to Wojcik, standing at 6’1 215 pounds. Wojcik holds an offer to one of America’s only 6-0 teams in college and professional football, Dickinson State. Jr Tape
