And the best players ALWAYS step up this time of year. Here are the Week 7 players who not only helped their teams’ win but were the most dominant players on the field.
RB Jace Reynolds, Junior, Harrisonville (5’8, 175) Anytime you break records, you get MVP votes. When you rush for 395 yards and eight touchdowns (the record for a single game), you are the best player not only on the field but maybe in the state. The junior owns just about every rushing record in his school and conference. The fireplug uses exceptional vison, balance and toughness to win each rep. Reynolds never seems to tire out and plays like the energizer bunny. There will be a college program in a few years that will have all their records broken by Jace as well.
RB/DT Jamond Mathis, Sophomore, Duchesne (6’4, 222) Mathis is an up and coming star in the St. Louis area. He is Mr. Do-it-all for Duchesne and is still a pup in football years. But his body and size is already college level. Mathis was all conference as a defensive tackle last year but can play running back, wide receiver, tight end, pretty much anything. His four touchdowns led the way for a blowout win Friday Night. College coaches will go crazy once they get an up-close and personal view and feel for this man-child.
WR/LB William Lee William Lee 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR Kirkwood | 2021 State MO , Senior, Kirkwood (6’2, 185) The 24th best player in the state is a playmaker now that he is actually allowed to make plays. Lee is a dynamo on offense and defense. He scored the game winning touchdown on a long bomb to put him over the 100-yard receiving mark. The senior also added a pick as a defender and was active all over the field. I view Lee as a college linebacker because he has a natural feel to flow and hit. But Lee is a special talent and will be an elite addition to whichever college program gains his services.
DE/OLB Travion Ford Travion Ford 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Lutheran North | 2021 State MO , Senior, Lutheran North (6’4, 240) Ford is one of the most elite players in the state and country. The Missouri Tigers commit dominated on Friday Night, garnering sack after sack, until one led to a strip, scoop and score. Ford has a wicked first step off the edge, has gumby-like flexibility and his added strength has really shown up in his play this abbreviated season. SEC offensive linemen will have their hands full in the coming seasons.
