Throughout the state of Georgia, plenty of WR's are already compiling impressive seasons. Some of the players who have managed to do so are very underrated players. Below, we have taken the time to evaluate the leaders in receiving yards throughout the entire state. As they each continue on throughout the rest of the season, look for each to continue to add on to their yardage total, as well as their recruiting profile. [player_tooltip player_id="33861" first="Travis" last="Hunter"]- (775 yards) Collins Hill After seeing that [player_tooltip player_id="33861" first="Travis" last="Hunter"] leads the entire state in receiving yards as a Sophomore, many people would be surprised. Even more surprising, Hunter isn’t even being recruited at the next level to play receiver, but to player DB, which he also excels at as well. Because of this, he is already committed to Florida State. When you cut on the tape of Hunter, it is evident that he is the most athletic player on the field. As a receiver, he blocks extremely well, and catches the ball very cleanly. With this, it can be seen that he has a great ability to track the football into his hands. When he is running routes, he may be a bit raw at times, but shows a great twitch, and fluid movement skills that allow him to get in and out of cuts. These same movement skills make him a great DB due to the fact that he has to move cleanly to eliminate wasted movement as he is in coverage. Hunter flips his hips very fluidly as well, and his ability to move quickly, and with a burst, makes him a great defensive player. While Hunter is already a great player, look for him to only get better from here. Myles Redding- (736 yards) Whitefield Academy Myles Redding, who is probably one of the most underrated players in this entire 2021 class within Georgia is having an amazing season, and one can only hope that college programs are starting to notice his ability to play football at a high level. Redding plays WR, and DB, but clearly has the length, height, speed, and burst to play the WR position at the next level. He tracks the football well, and catches the ball cleanly. He shows limited false steps in his route running, and can make various kinds of catches, with very strong hands when in competed situations. Before the season ends, we hope that a few programs pick up on the fact that he is more than just a decent football player. Josh Patterson- (642 yards) Georgia Force Christian Josh Patterson, along with the entire Georgia Force Christian High team are having a great season so far. As an individual, he is third in the state in receiving yards, and is gaining a ton of yardage against each of the school’s opponents. One of the traits that stands out the most about Patterson is the fact that he finds ways to make plays, and finish them strong as well. He has a knack for scoring touchdowns, and even finds ways to do it through special teams. While he may not be the most fluid athlete, he does display some quickness and the ability to turn the corner. He runs decent routes, and also displays good balance, which helps him as he catches inaccurate passes at times. If he were to play at the next level, we project him to play for a D2 program. [player_tooltip player_id="33785" first="Adriel" last="Clark"]- (641 yards) Rabun County When evaluating [player_tooltip player_id="33785" first="Adriel" last="Clark"], it is evidently clear that he has the ability to play football at the next level. Up to this point, he has already received offers to play football at some smaller schools, as well as a few of the military schools. While he may not be the fastest prospect, he does have good hands and can be seen to track the football very well. Even though he is a bit raw in some of his routes, he does have a strength in running go routes, and going up to get the football. Paired with this, Clark also displays the ability to play with good spacial awareness, and balance. Horatio Fields- (630 yards) New Manchester High Along with Redding, Horatio Fields is another very underrated prospect within the state of Georgia. He has a ton of traits that programs at the next level would love. For starters, he has a great frame, and can box out defenders during contended catches. Fields also displays a good stick move and burst when running routes, and his long speed and short area quickness are also very impressive. Along with this, Fields also runs the ball very strongly, and he constantly breaks tackles, runs defenders over, and fights for yardage. If this isn’t impressive enough, one can also watch his ever improving route running, and ability to catch with strong hands, no matter what the situation is. Hopefully Fields is another WR who begins to get the recognition he deserves.
